BBMF ? Do you mean RAFM ?
Haven’t you heard? They’ll have it back in the air in no time…
Another new official photo from RAFM

What are they proposing to do with all the ‘bits’!?
I’m all for displaying things ‘as found’, take Duxford’s Bf109 for example (though, let’s not digress on the half restored look). But when it comes to highly risky and expensive operations to recover stuff out of the sea, I think a lot more has to be taken into consideration.
Mark, I was thinking along the same lines, however in a million years I could have never expressed myself as well as that.
Dobbins, is that Victor Meldrew in the middle?
Haha, well whoever it was he was probably thinking ‘I don’t believe it!’
These punters don’t look overly impressed! ‘Like, is that it!?’

I ask would anyone want to keep and display a Taliban IED to show what sort of weapon blew someones loved one to pieces? Thats what I think of that Dornier and all axis aircraft!.
I don’t know, but I see where you’re coming from. The Luftwaffe aircraft that are already at Hendon are different – I believe they were captured during the war and have ended up in a museum by default, and that is ok in my book. But, and this is a big but, when it comes to rooting around for the things (like the Do 17), I can see some ulterior motives. Someone somewhere is keen to get their hands on some Nazi booty, and relics of the Third Reich seem to have a certain aura about them. I wasn’t in favour of the senseless excavation of Richard III either. Sometimes history should be left where it is. Rant over!
Re. Stafford, plenty of people are saying ‘right, next up we should fish a Stirling out of the sea’. Correct me if I am wrong but the RAFM have a great chunk of Stirling tail in storage and do not have any obvious desire to ever put it on display. Why is this? It would look great (?) next to the Lancaster, if only to illustrate the Stirling’s sheer size. I believe they also have Herman Goering’s desk – that would look great in the BoB hall, but again, no sign of it.
Along with the Gladi-wreck and Hurri-scrap?
I to had thought they would put the airframe in a tank to conserve the metal and put a few Goldfish in the tank. so to make it more interesting for people looking at over the next few years. 🙂

Some crustaceans did make it to Cosford. I hope they were treated well!
I’m not 100% in favour of having the Halifax on display, but at least we can tell what it is!! The ‘last surviving’ argument isn’t helped by the Dornier’s condition.
The idea is that the airframe is not constantly sprayed. It’s only 20 minutes out of every 30 or something like that.
just some of the anticipated thousands who were going to flock to Cosford today…
