I’ve always found Shuttleworth’s Sopwith Triplane interesting – Sir Tom Sopwith saw it being built and declared it a ‘late production’ model. I’d have called it a modern replica. Where does the line stand?

A quick google search reveals that it probably is what it says it is.
Sorry, to clarify, I meant that the Lancaster has never really sat around not being flown. I read somewhere that the BBMF will keep the Lancaster flying regardless of what needs doing to do it. If it needs a new spar it’ll get a new spar, regardless of whether it’s a Lanc spar etc. Authenticity isn’t their aim, their aim is to keep it in the air.
A good question is what is the most original flying warbird? I would have ,until recently said the most original Spits would have been Shuttleworths and AR213 as they were ‘warbirds’ from retirement. Im guessing PA474 and ‘sally-b- must be mostly original, although I know the lanc was respared?
Are there any flying ww2 aircraft with original skins, Frames ,spars etc,??
The Fighter Collection’s Corsair is apparently totally original.
The Lanc, to my knowledge, has never stopped flying so has always been maintained. The BBMF aren’t bothered about replacing parts though, they will keep it flying whatever.
Nice. Like the P47
what about the search for human remains?
As I’ve said before, it’s a bit rich for the IWM to be banging on about provenance when they’ve had a plastic Mustang on display for the last 15 odd years. Where did that see service? Oxford Street!
Is that it? No Avenger? No CASA 111?
There was a thread about this about a few weeks ago which reached the general consensus that no one knew anything.
Sounds like the Style Council!
The late, lamented Hon. Mrs Victor Bruce. Not a lady to be crossed!
Yes, and she was a fan of fast cars! Perfect
ooooo what are they doing to the Zero? I hope it’s something sensible,
You mean Welwyn Garden City?
I love how the bombardier’s chair appears unscathed!
How about this one….
