A new helicopter Ka-52 “Alligator” was presented at the Le Bourget show in Paris.
It had never been demostrated before. The helicopter performed an impressive flight program and became one of the brightest things to see at the whole show.

Some upgrade programs have found their way in the MiG-31 fleet, like the MiG-31BM multirole version with upgraded avionics, new multimode radar, hands-on-throttle-and-stick (HOTAS) controls, liquid crystal (LCD) color multi-function displays (MFDs), ability to carry the Vympel R-77 missile and various Russian air-to-ground missiles (AGMs) such as the Kh-31 anti-radiation missile (ARM), a new and more powerful computer, and digital data links. A project to upgrade the Russian MiG-31 fleet to the MiG-31BM standard was begun in 2010; 60 or more aircraft are to be upgraded to MiG-31BM standard by 2020.

The author says that the museum had a really tough time surviving after the collapse of the USSR, and a few times they received offers to sell the museum, but the commanders of the air force base insisted on saving the museum.

Prague Aviation Museum, Kbely (Letecké Muzeum Kbely) is a major aviation museum located at Prague’s original airport at Kbely, 8 km (5.0 mi) north-east of the town centre near Route 10 (E.14).
Kbely was the first Czechoslovak military airfield, and during the inter-war period was the venue for several major public air shows. The first scheduled flight operated by CSA Czechoslovak Airlines (now CSA Czech Airlines) departed from Kbely for Bratislava in October 1923. Kbely airfield is not now used as a front line Czech Republic Air Force base, but it is utilised by military transport aircraft of the Czech Republic Air Force, and the VIP aircraft which transport Czech politicians.

Smuravyovo is one of the military airfields in the Pskov region, the regiment that used to locate there was disbanded in December 2009. What remained of the regiment is a military post where front-line bombers Su-24 are waiting for their end.

NASA’s Super Guppy airplane may look like a bloated steel whale, but it’s carrying very valuable cargo.
The wide-bodied aircraft landed at an airfield near Huntsville, Ala. on Wednesday with — in NASA’s own words — “an innovative composite rocket fuel tank.” The Super Guppy has a hinged nose that opens for easy unloading. Once the tank is removed, NASA will test it for future missions at its Marshall Space Flight Center.

Today, an air force drill started in Karelia, 250 km east of Finland. Reportedly, air force jets and teams have arrived from four regions of Russia. The drill is planned to be conducted during both the day and the night. The official defense department statement says that the main region of the drill would be Ladoga lake, which is on the border with Europe and Finland.

We are in the place where Mi-24 helicopters that have been put out of operation are spending their final days. The Mi-24 was a first tactical machine designed by MI and was in production until the 90s. After the collapse of the USSR, the manufacturers of different parts of the helicopter were separated by the borders of the newly formed ex Soviet states. These helicopters were nicknamed “Crocodile” by the pilots and I wonder if you can see why.

MiG-29M/OVT is an experimental plane with thrust vector control. It is a fighter MiG-29M that underwent some modifications. It is unique so it flies from place to place to take part in different air shows.
