A tad windy at Duxford today but did make for some interesting landings by anything flying. The Catalina performed a couple of display’s and lots of rollers and the silver T.28/G-TROY also went up for a brief test flight.

Off to Cosford…..
…..back from Cosford…..
….preparing to go to Cosford.

A warm and quiet day at Duxford and all that blue stuff in the sky made my eyes sore, or was that the sun. The HAC Nimrod had a brief excursion onto the airfield for a compass swing and the ARCo T9 Spitfire performed two very nice displays. The BAS Twin Otter went for a 90 minute or so bimble and was returning to Duxford just as I was leaving. The big white marques used by the film company that were outside AirSpace were being dismantled and one was used as a hangar for the Tiger Moths that left today as well.

My Other Aeroplane Is A Spitfire 😀

So the one in the barn was ‘F-ADXT’ and the one in the hangar ‘G-ADXT’-. Continuity?:D
Brian
Just the one from this morning as I was getting in some practice using a ‘white long lens’ for tomorrow. 😀

My take on the days events 😀
TA805 took off just before the museum opened and returned about an hour later.
DC-3/Skytrain headed back to East Kirkby
John Romain took the Buchon, in its Israeli colour scheme, flying again for a similar routine to the one he did the other day in the low cloud and mizzle. I think I heard the director ask over the radio for a low pass for the camera.

MK912 arrived from Biggin Hill to add to the collection of D-Day striped Spitfires for the Monuments Men film.
The black and white BBMF Chipmunk arrived during the afternoon and later left with the silver and dayglo Chipmunk that has been resident at Duxford for a while now.
The ARCo Beaver, in its Israeli AF colour scheme, was taxied over to the other side of the airfield where I think an Israeli encampment was being set up as I heard that there may be some night shooting taking place with it.
Yesterday a Tiger Moth flew in and was parked in the gun butts between 2 & 3 hangars which today looks like the interior of a barn with straw bales and the Tiger Moth had a new colour scheme. Today another Tiger Moth flew in with the same colour scheme as the ‘Barn’ Tigger and it was being rigged on a platform to go on a plinth for possibly some green screen photography in hangar 2.
The Biggin Hill cub was flown in earlier in the morning and flew out again later in the afternoon with we think the pilot of MK912.
MH434 has acquired D-Day stripes and additional nose art for its part in the Monuments Men film.

Someone with a long lens obviously got close enough!
It wasn’t me. Honest Guv. 😀

Hollywood comes to Duxford. Again. A nice line up of American war birds out on the airfield and a massed assortment of trucks and troops all over the place. Most of the filming seemed to take place in front of the DC-3 while the other DC-3 was the only aircraft flying with a couple of circuits as background movement. The film security people seemed to be having a vendetta against any one with a long lens. That’s a Canon ‘White’ long lens as I assume they think the photographers were professionals where as I was left alone with my ‘Black’ Sony lens.

Having acquired a set of black and white D-day stripes, MH434 was also having some nose art applied as well.

Meanwhile down at ARCo, filming appeared to be continuing inside the Classic Wings tin shed, which had a big green screen outside the doors, and the silver T-28 has now got it’s engine back and was having some more engine runs.

Brian
Are those cameras attached to the Buchon’s cannon and tail?
Yes. I’ve seen the tail one before but the cannon mount is new.
Brian
A couple more of the Buchon from me. 😀
