What is the objective of a possible USAF air strike in Iran? Determine the objectives first.
Presently, the USAF is nowhere near the numbers required to do what they did in 1991, ie to overwhelm and create air supermacy over Iran. And Desert Shield took months with Allied assistance (however limited)
In any case, the present situation appears to be a limited strike scenario, against a high value target such as a nuke weapon research lab. Speed and stealth prob count more than brut force. In such a scenario, the USAF is likely to try to create a ‘corridor’ for entry and igress over the target.
4 ) An Amphibhious Ship , What they call the Austin Class 😀
The Austin class is a poison chalice. IN must examine the total life cycle cost rather than just the acquistion cost. Might be better to cut a deal for some Enforcer class LPDs than hand-me-downs from USN.
Beware the Americans bearing gifts.
You know, on this topic, it reminded me of the old Cold War probability figures of successfully ICBM strikes. ie Failure to launch due to silo doors not opening, cold launch failure, lightning strikes on lift off, engine failure, guidance failures etc etc.
The probability figures were used to determine the min number of ICBMs :diablo: required for a effective deterrent.
Why would a missile explode after being catapaulted into the air and landing back on the deck?
Cracked propellent for one, although relatively rare. Equally rare would be some kind of arming malfunction.
Re: CL, more complicated equipment, higher MTBF. Failure of CL gear WILL disable complete sections of the magazine, depending on how the plumbing works. Hence the so-called disadvantage of HL’s complicated vents is relative as compare to CL.
Another way to examine failure scenarios it (below)
Rocket ignition failure: Probability?
CL: Missile falls back to deck, live ordnance on deck is a big no no.
HL: Live missile in launcher, still a risk but lesser
Cracked propellent: (explodes) Probability?
CL: Missile clear deck and explodes
HL: Missile explodes in launcher
Cracked propellent: (fizz) Probability?
CL: Missile clears deck, falls on deck, fizzes and burns on deck
HL: Missiles burns in launcher
Warhead premature activation: Probability?
CL: Missile explodes on deck
HL: Missile explodes in launcher/magazine
On the whole, it is a matter of preference. There are pros and con, IMO
What are these???
Radar components. One appear to be a power divider, another appear to be a phase shifter and the big box appear to be a trigger unit.
1,2: Description pls….. 😮
3: How many types can you spot….

The question on the back of my mind is not really about the rice but that there seems to be no coherent procurement plan at all.
Buy a frigate here, a couple of tanks there oh, not enough cash? Let’s try to barter!
There is no sense (as far as I can tell) whether this fits into any existing requirement and why they need to buy it in the first place. It’s as if some Admiral (and rice businessmen) decided he needs a new ship and his buddies needed some business. :diablo:
PS: no offense to any thai friends over here
He died young at 37, but shortly before that, he was becoming murderously sociophatic. 38 years later, his Taiwan stronghold under the command of his son eventually fell to the Qing.
The bad karma came back and haunted his descendants. (because of the people he persecuted)
Posted on the YJ83 thread. Check out the recent JDW (feb) on Iranian turbofan development.
According to a recent article in JDW on Iranian turbofan development, Chinese turbofan technology used on the C-802 was derived from the French (now Scnema) MicroTurbo TRI-60-3 which was transfered in the mid 80s.
The Iranian version is the Tollue 4, used on the Nasr (C802 copy) and improvements (Tollue 5) is on the drawing boards and a completely new model has finished preliminary design and is moving to detailed design stage.
WiGs does not necessary have any military implication. Singapore also has a small private company experimenting with WiG designs and so has anumber of countries.
Eh? “Hyper scratches his head”…..
Yes. The US blocked the sale of weapons to equip the ex USCG Reliance class boat now renamed P-621 by the SLN by NORINCO. Meaningless gesture and sheer pettiness.
All they wanted was a puny A-gun infront. The US offered the 57mm but they ain interested. Now all they will have is that old M1936 from the SLN Sayura!
Search for underwater telephones and read it.
I noticed the Head Net radar on the 055 Ranvijay has been replaced. What is the new radar?
