    Does anyone remember “The Aeronauts”?
French 70’s TV series about two Mirage 3 pilots.
I believe that they used a black T33 as a “baddie”
Would the Mirages count as warbirds these days?

And yet Duxford’s Runway Restaurant and the other cafe’s are first class. The first stop for me is a good meal there and that sets me up for a good day.
My last visit to Hendon was marred by the general scruffiness of the place, the general “run down” feeling and, lastly, the awful dining arragements.I know all about funding problems, blah blah, but at least the staff at DX understood plain english and their pleasant attitudes were what makes the place THE aviation museum in the UK.
    Rant over.

The Reds came over StNeots in Cambs at about 1440hrs in a seven-ship,vics of three and four, very low and fast looking like OW bound…….and then a bright yellow “thingy” ie no guns=no interest, performed a nearly faultless “100” in smoke.A colleague was heard to say”what does loo mean?”………………………………..
Anyone know the identity of the Yellow Baron?

My shifts coincide with that so if any of you see a Volvo T5 with, let’s say,a “distintive colour scheme”,hanging about-don’t be too alarmed,I’m there for the flying!!:D

I can’t believe no-one’s mentioned it but my favourite was the Proms at Duxford-so emotive.
Also single best display……747 at Dx-unbelievable!

    My twopenny-worth:

Look to creating an overall look to the IWM.The LWH and the American museum and the BoB displays are fresh, interesting and modern, why not have the other displays in the same mould?

As for kids,yes-they should be encouraged to visit but not in school groups, they muck about with their friends and putting buttons and lights on displays just encourages them to see how long it’ll take to break.Generally their teachers are uninterested and ignorant.Last week one of these “intellectuals” informed his class that the Wellington and the bouncing bomb were designed by T.E.Lawrence………….
    (Tin hat doffed)

I’m a FoD and I visit several times a month.I find it enlightening and relaxing and I always find something new to see. Please continue the good work!!

Would make sense,East Kirkby being a bomber base……
The badge was an RAF eagle in gold coloured metal if I recall correctly.

 Hi Anne, here’s one for you;I recently saw something on an RAF pilots,wartime,No.1 dress that confused me.He,a mannequin, had a set of gold metallic wings on the top pocket-flap below his flying wings.I think I saw this at East Kirkby but can’t be sure.Any ideas?
