Im also looking for an aviation related painting to fill a hole in the wall so to speak.

Id like to be british unlike the rest of this thread so a nice spitfire flying along or a lysander at its airstrip or a hunter formation anything like that

    Thanks in advance

    p.s go
b17 will you be selling any prints of HALIFAX OVER PENDLE HILL?

    thanks

If you could be a bit more specific, I could perhaps help recommend a few pieces. Details such as, is the aircraft in flight, taxying, on the ground, head-on shot, shooting down other aircraft, dogfighting, intercepting bombers, specific mark of aircraft, etc.

Alternatively, you could find it yourself by keying in these same parameters into the Aviation Art Database and Directory at eHangar.com 😎

    HTH! 🙂

Probably the only aviation related picture I’ve ever done.

OneEighthBit, that’s a beauty! Very atmospheric.

Was it a commission and has it ever been released as a print?

Are you planning to paint any more aviation art? You obviously have a talent there 🙂

    Very nice, northeagle.

Reminds me of another painting, of another era…

Great to see so many new and high quality aviation art pieces from the various artists here.

For a genre that’s supposedly “in decline” or “stagnation”, I see absolutely no let up in the interest in aviation art either here on this board or at the aviation art community at eHangar.com.

    Long may this continue! 🙂

I have been drawing pictures now for a very long time and have been pestered by various people that my artwork is worth selling, so I want your opinion on this subject.

I think you do very good work and judging from the responses on this thread, there is definitely a market out there who wants your art 🙂

You might sign up over at EHangar.com, an online aviation art site and pick the minds of those that are making a living doing aviation illustrations.

Chris, thank you very much for your referral to eHangar.com 😀

Rob, I invite you to visit the site sometime as we have many artists specializing in charcoal and pencil aviation art. Its a community site where artists share information, tips and tricks and learn from each other. We have a lot of aviation art lovers too who chip in in the various discussions, so artists also get to learn what the buying market wants.

Something else that may or may not interest you: eHangar.com has a Work Critique Room where brave (or reckless!) aviation artists can submit their work for a no-holds barred critique. Egos are encouraged to be left outside the door! There’s also a Ready Room for sharing Works-in-Progress inviting less harsh or more tempered commenting and suggestions by other members 🙂

I’m, not saying that I’m too good for the GAvA, but I’m happy with the results in which I produce drawing wise and is something I have self taught myself over something like a twenty five year period of drawing. If I start having people tell me that I should do this, this way and that, that way, I would probably not bother doing them again. I have my own style and technique that seems to work for me and from what people have said in the past to me has produced the right results so I think that I will stick with my own methods.

I’m happy doing what I’m doing now.;)

I don’t think Lindy’s Lad or anyone else is suggesting Guild members will try to convert you into someone or something you’re not. I believe the Guild members are very good chaps who are also very open with sharing tips and their wealth of experience can only help anyone who’s keen to learn. Style and technique are learned and refined over time, and interaction with like-minded aviation artists and learning from them can only improve your skills, I’m sure 🙂

Likewise, less experienced or talented Guild members will also benefit from and be inspired by your work and sharing, so all in all, everyone benefits, which is the main aim of the Guild, right?

All in all, I would say that you’ve got the basic, innate talent for drawing aircraft, but as with everything else, there’s always room for improvement 😉

I had a glance at ehangar, big and interesting website ! Maybe one day I’ll go there, but not yet… too busy and enormous profiles orders, and I am just an amateur…:)

Hmmm… enormous profiles orders? Doesn’t sound like “just an amateur” to me! 😉

Thank you for your kind description of eHangar.com; we have all kinds of aviation artists there 🙂

    eHangar.com Aviation Art Forum

    Hi Lindy’s Lad

Actually, there is already a very established and actively-participated aviation art forum at eHangar.com, which is the main internet portal for aviation art enthusiasts, collectors, aviation artists, dealers and publishers. 🙂

Of course, if the mods here wish to create a section for aviation art lovers, that would be great too as there’s always room for another such forum, as there are probably forum members here who are not yet aware of eHangar.com.

I would also like to invite Macwan to upload his aircraft profiles to the eHangar.com Aviation Art Directory if they are available for sale as prints. The directory lists thousands of aviation art searchable by aircraft type, era, mark, air force, personality and squadron and other categories.

It’s the *ahem* first and most comprehensive aviation art directory in the world. It is also the most independent since the site is not tied to any particular artist or publisher, and so lists works by all aviation artists.

Sorry, I don’t mean to hijack Macwan’s thread here, but since the question was raised, I just had to mention this 🙂

I am looking forward to seeing more of Macwan’s very detailed profiles here.

Macwan, these profiles are beautiful and look very painstakingly done!

Are you offering them for sale?

Will you be coming up with profiles of other aircraft; if so, which?

And I won’t even mention Robert Taylor’s deliberate mistake on Eagle Attack:D

    Ok, I’ll bite…

What deliberate mistake did RT make in Eagle Attack – please elaborate 🙂

I was wondering what the current second hand value would be as I’m not sure whether I’ll be keeping the print or not.

It’s signed by Douglas Bader and Johnnie Johnson, in pencil I think and has a separate label detailing it as a first edition print.

    Hi Mark

A similar print, in identical, if not better condition than yours, was recently sold on eBay for £109.56.

You’re thinking of the Battle of Britain Trilogy set which came out for the 50th Anniversary of the BofB in 1990. The 3 x individual prints were called IIRC, Spitfire Summer, Hurricane Force and Eagle Attack

Almost right 🙂 The first title is Summer Victory

What’s the advantage of posting your pictures up at flickr, as opposed to having them on your own website?

The wife of an expatriate Singapore Airlines pilot told me in Singapore how she dived into a ditch when a Messerschmitt strafed her when she was a little girl in the UK during the war. She was looking at one of my aviation art prints depicting a Bf109 and she said: “Yes, that was the kind of aircraft that shot at me!”.

I only just learned of this great pilot’s passing from another forum board. Its sad news indeed. I only watched him fly a few times when I was in the UK in 1990 for the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain; wished I could have seen him fly a few more times.

My condolences to his family and all who knew him well.

Hi Trumper, thank you for posting the link to eHangar.com’s Aviation Art Dealers Directory. That link though will cause various other browser windows to open up though, as we have a frames-based navigation system 😉

Please use this link instead: http://www.ehangar.com/aviation-art-dealers.php

At this time, eHangar.com is also asking our site members their feedback on the demand for a Buy & Sell section where collectors can trade or swap their extraneous aviation art collections.

I see from this discussion here that others are also looking for such avenues.

We are working on an improved Classifieds section where aviation art collectors can do this more efficiently.

As the website is visited and used by many aviation art enthusiasts and collectors (as well as aviation artists), posting a Classifieds ad there will reach a relevant and highly-targeted captive audience.

I would like to ask the collectors here if you too would be interested in such a feature to help you trade your aviation art pieces, and what other kinds of features you would like to see implemented.

BTW, markj, did you ever manage to sell off your two Trudgian prints?
