Still sceptical…..
‘We have the £10m and the engines.’
Whilst I can only dream of what ten million quid looks like I do know what a Jupiter looks like.
There ain’t any…..
A new build old engine carries with it all sorts of issues.
To carry fare-paying passengers a new-build 42 will need JATO-assist as well as 4 Jupiters to lift the paperwork….
As far as ten million quid is concerned, my guess is that this is an optomistic guess of the sponsorship value rather than cash in the bank.
I tell you what – show me the bank account with ten million quid in it and you are attracting my interest. I have been known to act impulsively when it comes to flying machines that blow my frock up…
I can just see me and my staff on a junket to France at 500ft in a 42.
But then I wake up every time.

Stop! Stop!
JDK,
Showing me pictures of those legs has made me come over all unnecessary – ooo-er Matron!
Do you think they might notice me with mine under one arm and a big box of spanners in the other??
(Imagine reading this without reading earlier posts!)
Looking forward to talking to the man wot did them ( and seeing if he can be bribed….)

MMMmmiles Hawk
Buckets of frozen fish @ 10 paces??!!
We won’t fight over it ‘cos they won’t flog it.
I can only dream of me ( and definately not you…) puttering along in it on a fine Summer evening.
Now my Falcon used to wear skis in Sweden before and after the war so ChillyWi11y definately not a problem with that. I bet those skis are sitting in a shed up there somewhere. Wouldn’t that be fun?
Come to Old Warden in the season and you can have a go in the Magister – a fine consolation for never owning the Hawk.
All the best
HP :p :p
Hummmmm…….
Not too impressed up there in the chilly north guys?
Ok, OK, I am of the opinion that a lot of ‘good bits’ are wasted on a static, especially one that will only be seen from the other side of a barrier.
Can I swap my tired old legs with it? Nobody would know…
Can I have the Gosport tubes…???
Can I swap my 2 ‘illegible’ P11 compasses?
I doubt it, even though I would actually use them for what they were intended.
Anyway, at least it’s on display – unlike the gorgeous Hawk mouldering away in the RAF Museum’s ‘Reserve Collection’. Nutters like me ( and probably nutters like our chums in Iceland..??!!) would be happy to spend 3 times what its worth on restoring it to fly.
Mind you, the prospect of chillywi11y in an open cockpit machine in Iceland doesn’t exactly excite me so it has to come to me OK!

G-ALWB
A bit of a story behind this machine.
It appears that the all important wing spar mod had only been completed as far as the logbook entry. The thing was covered and painted and then had to be stripped again when the anomaly was discovered. Ouch!
An expensive, time consuming and very annoying situation for Dennis, who thought he had bought a machine with this important work done.
All sorted now it would appear.
As nice as the Chippie is, it carries so much baggage in the form of endless Airworthiness Directives, all as a consequence of its lengthy military service.
Anybody contemplating buying one ought to chat with a few owners first.
This ain’t a cheap aircraft to operate. I will be interested to see what Dennis has to charge to make it work for him.

CFS Scheme
Hi Albert,
Love it love it love it,
However, I bow to the major concensus and will leave it yellow. Lots of work being done over the Winter to make it look even more gorgeous!
We will be doing the N3788 reg correction, ie the reg of the 1938 fuselage used in a 50’s rebuild. It also legitimises the current scheme. V1075, as a late ( 6th from last off the line) production machine, would have been in yellow/ camo and bare legs.

Come on Bertie,
I am struggling to understand the purpose of your post.
What really does blow your frock up? It cant be old planes.
At least we can be certain that you ain’t going to post anything on this forum that could even remotely enrich the lives of us genuine enthusiasts.

Duxford Maggie
Thanks JDK,
Very keen indeed to talk to him. I wonder if he has some spare undercarriage legs? I can almost guarantee I’ll spend 3 or 4 grand getting some legs made from drawings and the odd widget I have, only to be offered some unused original ones still wrapped in greased paper.
Dream on….
I am also keen to know why it wasn’t restored to fly. I think that there is something special about the phrase ‘restored to airworthy condition’. I wonder how much extra it would have cost?

Not over my house please!
It would be an interesting exercise to work out roughly how much money each petitioner needs to find in order to make it even financially viable.
Such a piity that so much time and effort has been wasted on such a ridiculous petition. I think they should also watch the news a bit more ofter to find out why TB’s heart is under a bit of strain.
Get real guys. The only Concord that will be seen in the air from now will be a model.
I tell you what. I’ll eat my favourite Ozzie hat if it happens.

Looked OK to me!
Go on, post the shot of the camera ship pointing the lens at you!
A great sortie – looked fine to me over Old Warden on that glorious day. I vote you keep it as is and spend the paint money on fuel and beeeeeer (some for me..).

Maggie make-over
Hi Mike J,
The red/ white over yellow CFS scheme is something I have decided to postpone, at least until the aircraft needs a repaint. It is currently in really good order so – with 2 other vintage machines all needing work over the winter I am finding it difficult to justify the cost.
Also, so many people know and love the yellow scheme.
Changing the reg in the meantime is fairly straightforward by comparison and legitimises the all-over yellow scheme that V1075 never actually wore, being 6th from last off the line. I’ll post again when I have decided what to do.
A better class of dilemma….
HP
(Spot the spelling mistake – I have promised one in each post from now on for Moggy C’s benefit don’t forget!)
Not mine…..
It was indeed the Breighton machine. I would have loved an involvement but wasn’t asked.
If there are any movie makers out there, some fly for food, others for fuel but I fly for beeeeeeeeeeeeeer!
My Maggie is V1075 but might emerge from its winter maintenance program (*) with the more appropriate N3788 identity of the 1938 fuselage used in a 50’s rebuild.
I say ‘might’ because if it is a shed load of dough ( a lot more work than if it was made of tin) I’ll live with the current reg. until it needs full repaint.

(*) Deliberate mis-spelling of ‘programme’ just to see if Moggy C is on the ball today. I’ll try to remember to put at least one in all my future posts just for him to punce on. (I actually liked my English teacher but that was back in the 60’s……)
Hang on….
This all started off as a bit of fun about a camp comic, could have been a good thread but ended up as an English lesson. I don’t want one. Does anybody else?

CaroLYN
Hi Moggy C,
I hope she isn’t as sensitive about the spelling of her name as you appear to be….
If she reads this thread I’ll prostrate myself at her feet when I see her next, possibly at the Display Pilots Conference in November.
Will that do?

Eddie Izard
Is he a pilot already?
If he is worth a few bob(?) then if he has sufficient experience he should buy one and spend some more dosh on getting himself up to speed. £50k pa should get him insured if so.
Alternatively, I’m sure Caroline Grace would be happy to get in on the act (you know what I mean….) and I’m sure Flightsuits would be perfectly happy to make him a pink overall.
At least a Spit has a mirror he can use to adjust his slap.
