During the fights, both sides have tried all possible conditions, from the most favorable to least favorable. And both sides scored kills and losses, just like at every exercise. Especially at Dubendorf, it’s hard to beat the Swiss because they know every damn corner of their land and will beat your F-22s even with old Mirage IIIs and F-5Es suddenly appearing from some hole between the hills, the plane is by far not everything that counts!
But that doesn’t make the F/A-18 a better dogfighter than MiG-29. From what I have read, MiG can point its nose every bit as hard as the Bug and only slightly less than Mirage 2000, which is the rumored No.1 performer in this field. But contrary to the Bug, MiG doesn’t bleed energy as fast and regains knots much easier which gives it a fair 50/50 chance on initial encounter and exponentially growing chances on all following maneuvers, where the excess energy help the MiG jock to dictate the conditions. That’s all even without the HMS.
My link shows an article in Swiss paper Blick which was unfortunately removed since then, yes. But if you are actually eager to know, then you see enough references about the outcome.
The article is called “Die F-18C unterliegt MiG-29G in der Schweiz”, which means “F-18C beaten by MiG-29G in Switzerland”. If that is not enough, you can observe the reactions of the posters which clearly indicate the outcome, even if we cannot read the article itself anymore. If saying that MiG-29 is a better dogfighter than F-18C only means “spouting crap due to lack of respect towards US equipment”, then I will gladly continue spouting this crap even further. And there is nothing you can do about it, sorry.
you realise of course that the euro’s didnt update their FCS untill they did their upgrades just recently ?
if you can be bothered to look, you will see a great roll improvement about 2003/4 when it went from ~35 to ~55 AOA

I have quite a different view on the topic.
The only two aircraft that really fit the bill are the Rafale and Shornet.
Both can be operated from the next Indian carrier.
Both improve overall fleet efficiency with their jamming capabilities like no other contender.
Both fulfill the self-escorting strikefighter role like no other contender.
Both have armed forces behind them that are actually commited to further development. (Maybe Gripen can compete here)
Who wins in the end depends on tech transfer and the quality of the offered Growler light in my opinion.
Personal choice would be Rafale. Integrated with cheap US PGM’s + French weaponry as alternative choice + commonality with M2K at least weapons wise.
there are several sources that the f-35 b/c is going to be an allowed sale for the indian carriers
so i cant see any SH or rafale for the carriers
the land crafts are still up for grabs
scorpion you are trying to score a point that isnt there
i meant just for the 60 uae, it wasnt worth doing a frame change because of cost, if brazil came in as a joint fr uae brazil, then it would be better
i thought f414 just slipped in, looks like i was wrong, it isnt an option
read my post again
“outside of usa and most of the time within, the f-22 flys with radar reflectors for security, its only in war mode it runs its true RCS”
the word ‘most’ allows for secured exercises within usa
i dont know what they do to the top, all i know is there is a hot and cold rcs
if you tell me how all the rcs tech works on a f-22, it may explain it
while you’re at it can you tell me why the f-35 has 2 layers of ‘electrified mesh’ ?
In an unverified story, French M2000 didn’t seem to have troubles locking on F22, even though its radar is considerably less powerful than APG63.
you’re only showing what you dont know, outside of usa and most of the time within, the f-22 flys with radar reflectors for security, its only in war mode it runs its true RCS
i have no doubt the m2000 saw it, even airport radar picks it up at distance
i think most of what you say is accurate, you are open to discussion and not fanboy rantings and i have said to others what you have posted on occasion
the passive mica shot and gps weapons, we arent of the same opinion but we are close
we disagree on AC, you think it is possible that the rafale has it, i think its just the subs
cola, have you got the link to your f-16 claim and how it relates to the production f-35 ?
no its not said to be better, the f-35 has the ~same sub & transonic as the f-22 and the f-22 takes the lead in supersonic
cut it anyway you want, LM have just that its “better”
i know france is happy as is, but UAE want a bigger engine, it might be easier to fit the f414, they only want 60 planes, is it worth doing all the work ?
if brazil want 9 ton too then it would be worth it
you’re probably right but that wasnt the impression i got, you might want to check that if you’re not sure, as i dont know
has there been any guns dogfight between phoons and teens reported ?
so we accept every thing EF say, but LM are liars, LOL
if they use it in airshows they probably do, did the rafale say about TVC ? thats the only guns dogfight i’ve seen reported
but as far as the f-16 and fa-18 goes the f-35a is better
g – longer better
acceleration – shorter better
ok, if you have seen it on the video’s or read it, it does, unless you’re guessing like me
the reason i mentioned the f-22 is because of rafale and i think the rafale would take the phoon in a guns dogfight
