there will still be ground support, but autonomous control has and will replace basic stuff, even with the ea-18g now
everything works in one big system with designed overlap, its not how good something is by its self, its how well it fits into the system

you had better send an email to LM and tell them they are wrong in their plans to have the f-35 as a hub for a hive of UCAV’s

there is no set price for israel yet, which you would have known if you read my post
a lot of people can think what they want to, only gov and air forces count
israel will run f-35 as high and the rest as low untill their 4th gen are retired

The Israeli price tag is not LRIP! Who are cluchting at straws now?! 😎

you just make it up as you go, dont you, they decide on full production mid 2016 and are still LRIP, so it will be 2017 for full production

The Defense Ministry consultations were expected to continue throughout July 2010, with a decision expected by September. The Air Force has been an advocate of procuring the F-35, but the Ministry has sought technology transfer, offsets and the installation of Israeli electronic warfare and other systems. So far, the Pentagon has refused to approve the Israeli requests.

At this point, Lockheed Martin has not set the price of JSF, expected to reach $150 million. The development program has been delayed by at least 13 months, which officials said meant that Israel would not receive the first F-35s until 2016.
[LM say they can deliver sooner]

So in general the real cost for every customer.

That includes spare parts, new infrastructure, training, etc… That’s not the flyaway cost, that Israel would pay per aircraft.

and they are LRIP and not full production price

We hope that the Eurofighter is still in service when those become operational.

well i hope so, its suppose to suck up all the SAMs,PAKs & SUs while the f-35 goes about its business

Casolini: The Eurofighter and the F-35 are aimed at different sectors of the market. Actually, we feel that the very presence of the F-35 will turn the Eurofighter into the veritable “Coalition Fighter”.
it is pretty obvious that F-35s deployed in their primary attack role would need to be protected from the possible presence of enemy fighters
Some countries that are currently considering the possible purchase of the JSF, will soon discover this basic point. This is for instance the case with Turkey or Japan, which would eventually want to deploy the same mixed fleet of Eurofighters and F-35s as Italy and the UK.

this story needs to be updated re turkey and japan, seems they are going to use drones as decoys :diablo:

You probably will be shocked but there are countries where people prefer universal healthcare to stealth aircraft for few chosen uselessly flying over their heads.

all the partners have universal healthcare, its just corporate owned usa that doesnt
i await your next bit of nonsense

Defence Secretary, Dr Fox made clear that major projects like the Typhoon Eurofighter jet – already seen as obsolete – will bear the brunt of cuts.

well it looks like just as the phoon is said to be 5th gen its obsolete, so i guess they should have stayed 4.5
dont you hate it when someone ruins the EU fantasy

i think you’re spot on toan,
its not the popular EU prideful stuff and you have said things i have been reluctant to say as a non EU

further, its not for the lack of decent engineers as subs are much more technical and are funded as national security
its simply the matter that EU has been R&D priced out of the fast jet market,
the usa eats the R&D on any military product and sell at USA cost +3%? FMS
the f-35 partnership have brought the major players together and will sell with the same FMS structure
they have made it hard for a single nation to compete in the future, eg dassault and saab
