well your choice later this decade isnt good, euro or f-35, it really doesnt warrant a discussion, except from those who wont accept that usa is streets ahead

LPI radar can play with freqmod, pulse compression and adaptive power setting in order but physics is clear and sound – it only can filter out a return that is stronger than the noise. In order to achieve that, it has to send out signal even stronger than the expected return.

For analogy, consider a non-LPI radar as a man in woods wearing red jacket. An LPI radar would be the same guy wearing a black jacket. Harder to spot, especially at greater distances but still visible..

do a bit more reading, they transmitting at hash levels and are pulling the return signal out of the hash

It’s very simple jackjack, put up a link which says the APG-79 already has an electronic attack capability.

Actually, save yourself the effort because it probably doesn’t right now, let alone when it first entered service in 2005. Back in 2006, EA was planned for 2010 and when Block II+ entered production in late 2007 it was still on the roadmap as a future update. Bottomline, the APG-79 might yet become the first radar to have the capability in the near future, but it didn’t when it was originally introduced and probably doesn’t even today.

RBE-2 AESA will have everything it needs to be used for jamming in terms of hardware, as with the APG-79 it is a matter of introducing an appropriate software upgrade.

Now look what you’ve done, you’ve exposed that jackjack here didn’t know… um… “jack” (pardon the pun) himself about Bragg Cells.

jackjack, if you’re going to act so damn patronizing towards other posters you might want to make sure you measure up to your own standards first. You want them to provide a source for their claims, for example? Fine, you provide one for yours, etc.

How so (which F/A-18, anyway)? Does the Hornet have active phased array jammers? Interferometric RWR? IR MAWS? LWS? I’ll answer for you, even the SH does have an interferometric RWR, but is less advanced in the other categories.

    mate, why embarrass yourself ?

The AN/APG-79 is derived from technology developed by Boeing and Raytheon for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program. The radar has an antenna that consists of a matrix of programmable transmit-receive (T/R) modules, which can act cooperatively or individually, allowing the system to act as a “low probability of intercept” radar; a precision jammer; or an ELINT system to locate and target emitters. Functions can be performed simultaneously by allocating blocks of T/R modules to each function; the AN/APG-79 is “multimode” in a very strong sense, since it can actually operate in several modes at the same time, tracking an aerial target while mapping out ground targets. Astonishingly, the high degree of parallelism allows the front-seater and the back-seater to effectively each have their own radar. An AESA is so capable that it is really not entirely accurate to call it a “radar”, since it is more than that.

all you have to do is build better planes with better tech than america, how hard can it be

    Yes :

    Quote:
The best of impressions left to the greek pilots the performace of the Rafale’s self protection suite, confirming the french reputation in the sector since the time that HAF operated the ICMS2000 in the Mirage2000.
    …………..

The point about spectra is that despite the lack of in depth technical datas everything indicates that :

    1) it performs currently very well recieving praises from foreign and french air force personnel.

    2) Spectra has followed an ambitious and continuous development path with a funding level unseen for the competition (several billions euro) mainly due to its role in rafale nuclear mission which add a “strategic” value to this item. Given also French experience in the EW aera it should normally lead to a very good piece of equipment as many pilots already witness.

    3) Further developments testify from a (very) ambitious roadmap and a military and political will to keep investing in this item.

i’m glad you found something you liked in the greek encounter
you obviously didnt quote the first paragraph

This time the french aircrafts also used the trainning function of Spectra, in mild jamming mode, which were immediately detected from the greek aircrafts ECCM, which reply automatically with no pilot input.

The BVR tactics used by the French didn’t impress, while they reported all virtual shots as kills. But without wanting to go into detail, observing the route of the target in relation with the lock on it, keeping time (counting) in relation with the virtual launch, the greek pilots managed to arrive to safe conclusions. This time, the majority of the greek shots were inside the “no escape” envelope of AMRAAM, which gave clear advantage to the greek side. The tactic of using data link, where 2 different radars could lock onto 4 aircrafts, taking advantage of the function that the new aircraft gives, made obvious in practice the advantages of the new F16 version. With special tactics planned by our pilots, in quite some cases, they were approaching unobserved opposite to the french aircrafts, a fact that was shown by their reactions.

The success of the greek aircrafts against the Rafale M was afterwards confirmed by comparing the shot reports of the French with the F16 videos, where it was shown that most shots were of low Pk (kill probability).

As a general conclusion, one may say that any Rafale’s superiority, in the above scenarios, is marginal, with high kill percentage for the greek side. Also it should be noted that in that period of time, the CdG was cooperating with a greek EMB-145H Erieye with the aim to evaluate the interoperability of the 2 sides. More in detail Link 11 and Link 16 were tested.

they think its marginally better than a f-16
personally i think its quite a bit better and so it should be

other than the AC which seems a common belief, you dont post rubbish like BW,
if you dont see the damage the wild claims by fanboys do to the rafale, i dont know what to tell you other than its best if the rafale guys pull them up, they might listen

    spectra does have directional rwr
spectra does have directional jamming, not a lot of planes do afaik
it is advanced to a lot of planes, it is still not that advanced to set it apart from the fa-18 for example
is this the greek one you meant

“”-When the french voted defense budget gived funding for a stealth demonstrator using AC + 5T (most probably) it is not PR”””

perhaps you should reread my post, i said the new 5T sounded nice, there is no mention of AC hint or otherwise

i’ve read the articles, sweetman asked an engineer if it had pixie dust and he didnt answer, so confirming to sweetman it had pixie dust

And according to the Navy, the APG-79 is effective at that role at very long ranges.

but the new rafale radar wont be able to be used for jamming, so therefore the feature is useless according to them 😀

sorry it replced the the f-14 score of 200 by 50% more that of 300 simply by moving from block 1 to block 11
the f-14 is just another example of something that was good in its day, it has passed
the first upgrade of the fa-18a effectivly replaced the f-14, the rest is just a bonus
    F/A-18E/F Block ll = .660
    F/A-18E/F Block l = .316
    F/A-18A+/C/D = .193
    F-14D = .195

Take your time and respond 2moro , no need to race 🙂

    Cheers .

try opening the link, its a general page, i’m not going to search the site to read about the new tech bragg cells that rafale doesnt have, although i thought the new tech was still in the labs
you have posted this nonsense for several years and have been slapped down numerous times
fanboys like you only give the rafale a bad name
post a link to your claim or retract it
and i’m still waiting for the link to your thales usa claim
