The example of the firing of a MICA
and destruction of a target closing on its 6o’clock by a Raffy
with location of hostile transmitted from another one by way
of Link16 is valid. So if the Raptor was going at a full coverage
defence ( ground/aerial/space ) and the Rafale was “manning”
    such air defence…

what modern fighter cant do this ?

    Dear Jackjack

Well, I am quite sure than anyone knowing a bit aircrafts, in France or in the whole world, do not think seriously that, in a “normal” “direct” air to air confrontation (ie: no ambush, no mistake, no unlucky side etc…), Rafale is a match for F22!:)
And the reason is that… no plane is today a match for F22!:D

It does not either mean that F22 is invulnerable and cannot be shot down from time to time, particularly when the ROE are specific (dogfight, ambush etc…):diablo:.
At the end of WW2, Me262 was probably one of the most advanced fighters (the most advanced?) but it was shot down too by allied aircrafts from time to time, so…

nice to see a new face here, you posted a sensible post, the rafale is a credit to a pop of 60 mil tax base
we play a friendly game here and take the pis* out of each other
i dont know how much is actually believed because fanboys and reality are seldom on the same page

Yes, mrmalaya, i think that you read Alphazulu’s small script
    as intended.

However, i believe that it shows that, under the circumstances, we have
only devious statements to make our dubious cases on, pretty much all the
    time and from all sides.

    We’ll have to make do!

    Good day all.

so you arent one of the fan boys that said the rafale, being a light, agile fighter uber-plane will wipe the floor with the f-22 WVR
on the frog sites they are backing off on WVR and singing about spectra, you know, like a lot of the stuff on helicopters and ir missiles
lets hope at the next exercise the french get the chance to wipe the floor with the f-22 BVR

maybe they have just given up ever getting a rafale export order to tier 2 / 3 airforces and see the old mirages as their best chance of a sale

i’ve just had a thought about why all of a sudden their are stories about the mirage getting a gun on the f-22, something the rafale didnt and goes against the claim that no one got a kill on the f-22
isnt france getting some old mirages they need to sell ?

Well how do you know that B-2 was never seen by any metric radar ?

Detecting and Tracking is one thing executing a intercept and FC solution is another.

B-2 never faced a credible competitor , try to fly it across Russian airspace

BTW it was reported that the Australian JORN was able to detect and track B-2 at long ranges.

The metric radar has itself gone through generational changes and has become more compact ,accurate and ability to integrate in the larger IADS eg Russian Nebo SVU 3D

JORN cant track in 4d for targeting, but it is very very sweet
isnt the metric an early warning, rather than a targeting radar ?

Sure jackjack i agree, but that wasn’t my point..

My point was that LM supercruise definition are purly for advertizing reasons.

    Thanks

yes, i think you are right, there are 2 definitions, science and LM

science says all the plane breaking the sound barrier
    LM says 1.5+

haavarla. it wasnt in the specifications, they arent going to change it
as has been said, it will probably exceed m1 on mil power as it is, but i doubt it will be used tactically

    Does the F-35 supercruise?
No, neither the F135 or F136 engines were designed to supercruise.

the yf22 model in a wind tunnel in the 90’s.
well i guess that proves it LOL
would you like to try again ?

just out of curiosity, what are you claiming for the max aoa and the aoa on roll [pre-stall] on the rafale, about 30 and 20 ?

isnt the cobra also done with the f-22 ?

the cobra is a post stall maneuver
the f-22 stalls after ~60+ and can roll at ~40 aoa, obviously this is pre-stall and the wings have lift
i think you are thinking about your favorite plane, ~30 and rolls at ~20 AOA

As I have worked out because as usual you talk out of your behinds and WE have to look up stuff for you. Learn to use google FFS

no, you just repeated it, the roll rate ps was worked out on a previous page and the rafale is significantly higher going by available public source on the last page

and the ability to roll at a high aoa is about 2/3 of max before wing stall
the rafale probably has about at about a 20 deg aoa roll ability
compared to about a 40 deg aoa roll for the f-22
