Well not only…I can garanty that Spectra play a major role in rafale nuclear detterence and its deep strike capability. You can hear it very often in the french specialized press. investing 3 billions Euros (source sweetman and A&C) in an onboard jammer is hardly justifiable if it doesn’t serve any strategic role. No wonder there is such a strong buzz around it with Active cancellation (Sweetman, Air&Cosmos).

A&C quote sweetman, they make no such claim themselves and infact no one else does either
if you think the rafale will be survivable in deep strike against a creditable defense, there isnt much i can say, standoff weapons are what most are saying unless you’re usa

Jack all fighters made it to next round the Rafale and Typhoon got the IAF reccomendation, if we believe the report. So SH is not cut.

ok, i got it wrong, i thought it was rafale and phoon with the others cut

that article has it a bit wrong in that the au$76 is an aprox cost for the f-35a and not a three model average, other than that its ok

why are you talking in total price with usR&D, UK and partners buy at flyaway cost

No matter how one looks at it, its still going to cost more than everyone thought it would, and if the UK really does cancel their lot then the price is sure to go up even more. That could start a chain reaction of mess to come.

So much of it being an “affordable”…

you have it wrong, it is going to be “cheaper’ than we allowed for
we allowed au$75/us $69m for the f-35a, where the current projection is us$60m
i see no reason why the reduction wont apply to the f-35b too, as to the cost if UK canceled, it wouldnt affect flyaway cost, it would just be a shorter production run, but you will find that the UK wont cancel as they have spent 20yrs working out that this is what they want, if they do go catobar in the future, they will get the f-35c or equivalent at the time, they wont buy a 4.5gen plantform

i agree, it wont be a game changer,
the aussies will run subsonic as per the IR requirements of the design, even if it can supercruise
