Most likely a non-event, as with 99.99% of these types of “incidents”

They phoned my missus up yesterday as well, he said he was from Microsoft and had spotted an issue with my pc. She told him that he needed to speak to me as I was the “expert” (at that point I lol’d), he promptly got very shirty on the phone and hung up.

hmm, a Dash 8 Q400? 😀 But it does suffer from the worst ADF Dip I have ever encountered, and we’re doing about 160kts groundspeed on average, and if you leave the autopilot in it’s classed as cheating, and it is also cheating if you use the ND and FMS overlay, so in effect it’s just a big C182 😀

That’s right, I’m not sure about hand held devices though, it’s going to have to be a fixed GPS with the correct RNP capabilities. I am not sure hand helds can give this type of accuracy, especially when conducting an RNP approach. I would imagine they’d give reasonable & suitable P-RNAV performance, I guess time will tell.

Yes we’ll still have ILS, but I would hazzard a guess that this will not be at every airfield in the UK. Apparently alot of the Scottish VORs are due to be decommissioned (DCS TLA TRN etc). You only have to look at what is happening with the ILS’ in this country, as they break down they are not being replaced. My home airfield Exeter Rwy 08 is a casing point.

P-RNAV/RNP approaches will become the norm sooner than we think, the issue is, the airlines are preparing for it (I’ve just done the training in the sim) but GA is not. This will force the GA industry in this country to spend an awful lot of money upgrading their fleets, or replacing them. It is going to be a messy transition for them that’s for sure.

I actually like doing NDB approaches at work, it’s a break from the norm and keeps the skills fresh, but I’m a sadist like that, non precision approaches, coupled with wind & turbulence is right up my street 😀

Good luck with the renewal when it comes around.

I think BlueRobin was being facetious. Your wish may come true soon. by 2015 most NDBs & VORs will be decommissioned and P-RNAV/RNP approaches will become the norm 🙂

Not all the tickets will be “twice as cheap”. EasyJet’s pricing policy contains several steps, sell x amount of tickets at x amount and the price moves up to step two, sell x amount of tickets at x price and the price moves to step 3 and so on. Flybe’s contain about 2 steps. EasyJet have more seats at it’s disposal to get people on board spending their hard earned cash. EasyJet needs to fill 82%-86% of their Airbus 319s/320s to break even at this low price. Flybe’s business model is different to Easyjet, they operate high frequency routes which gives the business passenger options.

I don’t want to turn this thread into something it isn’t, so this will be the last word on it from me.
There’s nothing wrong with your original photo, so please re-instate it. I re-instated the thread through requests. It turned sour because a certain member took a dislike to my polite and reasonable request to stop using the quote button as a matter of standard, to which this thread was particularly bad for. The spat that followed had nothing to do with this thread at all. So please re-instate your photo and it’ll carry on where it left off. I will clean it up again tonight when I get home from work so it looks how it did.

Shall we just concentrate on the thread, yes? If I have to start deleting posts then I’ll get it in the neck again, and two nights on the trot is not funny.

    No worries, Daz

Doors, the only way the employees will pick up positions is if they stay open. Should they close down then there is very little chance, if any that the employees will gain positions with us. We’re already overcrewed in the pilot department. We are still waiting to hear from the company what the plans are as far as EMA goes. The winter routes have been announced as above but all the press releases doesn’t say anything about beyond winter 12/13.

Comet, fingers crossed. I know they have a company called Granite looking to buy them, but in what guise is anyone’s guess.

Ok chaps, I’m losing the will to live here. I have edited nearly every one of your posts in this thread, and Tornado64, I have edited nearly every one of yours over the last month. The quote facility is there to be used properly. The quote CoC can be found here. I’m going to just delete posts now rather than edit them. The standard way to reply is to hit the “Post Reply” button, not the “Quote” button.

Not from June, Daz, but from the start of the winter schedule. October 28th.
Routes include Amsterdam, Paris CDG, Edinburgh, Glasgow & Jersey for starters.

All the very best to the bmi guys, I’ve been there before and it is not a nice situation to be in. Lets hope bmi Regional can find a buyer before it’s too late for them.
