Swift
Thanks for sharing this, and for having the guts to write it, the good thing is that you & your wife walked away unharmed apart from a dented pride, the other good thing is you recognised your mistakes and you will learn from them, I guess that’s what this business is all about, being around to learn from your mistakes, this is the only bad thing about aviation, get something wrong and it could bite you real bad, I was doing circuits at Gloucester last week when it was really choppy, we had a 13kt crosswind so I was brushing up on some crosswind landings, it was really bumpy with 5-10kts windsheer present all the time, but I tried to nail the Vref speed, and anyone who flies from Staverton will know what it is like when it is windy, updrafs, downdrafts, wing lifts etc, well a couple of times the updrafts were so bad I could not get the nose down to cross the threshold at 50ft, only option was a go around to have another go.
It’s amazing isn’t it, in your story, you deem yourself a safe pilot, and a good moto that is, yet we still find ourselves doing things out the ordinary for some bizarre reason, yes I can get this plane down in time, and then fight it, when the simplest answer would have been to go around, but then this is the learning curve, and it re-enforces your experience and makes you a better pilot, it’s also amazing that now I have 2 small children I realise just how mortal I really am.
Happy landings Swift 😉

Seen it before, it looked like Janie in her Chippy :p
duh i diud that before but is that arrivals for monday no its today wednesday
DUH!!!!! ?
Well look on Monday for Monday, simple as that, your attitude does not warrant people helping you out, have a think before you type
All you have to do is look on the Manchester Airport website for arrivals & departures, a 10 second google search brings this page up Clicky you don’t have to be Einstein to work out which ones are long haul and which ones are not
Like I said, 10 seconds 🙂
Flew over Bruntingthorpe twice last week and noticed something had changed with it, couldn’t get the camera out as I was alone, thanks for the pics Derek
£420 for the initial class 1, then minimum £100 per check thereafter, I had my class 1 renewal last Friday and it cost me £185
Don’t do your class 1 until you are ready to start your PPL, waste of time when you are 14.
No there are no airlines that will pay this for you, not directly anyway, you will be a low hr’d pilot, with no experience, and the days of cadetships will be loooong gone by the time you are ready to start training, so a very large loan, rich daddy or a great job will be your only way, I have taken the modular route and by the time I have finished it will have cost me in the region of £45,000 and that is minus a type rating, if you go integrated you can at least double it once all expenses has been paid
A330-200
Work very VERY hard at your education, you will want to be in a position to offer the airlines something nobody has (or very few), sort out your English, spelling & grammar, and get the best education possible, if you have not got a rich daddy you had better start saving now, don’t get a mortgage and don’t get married before you think of becoming a pilot, certainly if you have not landed a well paid job.
Lukeylad, that kind of ring’s true for any job, it’s all about getting off your backside and doing something about it, nobody will give you an inch in this industry, you are very much on your own to a certain extent, make the most of, and enjoy your school years, it will be hard hard work once you undertake training.
EDIT:
A330, it doesn’t say what cabin crew are on, you asked for both, and my original post stated for pilot’s wages click here, can you also join up some of your very very short posts 🙂
Ok, just go here Clicky , then scroll down to the relevant country under the heading you want to use, i.e. cargo etc to see the relevant airline
ah yes. still getting the ppl is a good start for any pilot who wants to fly commercialy.
And so is a class1 medical, no point even doing a PPL if you cannot obtain & retain your class 1 if you want to fly for a living.

Unless she really is a pshyco nutbitch then I will suggest you really haven’t been as firm with her as you think, telling her you are not ready to commit to anyone is not enough, you need to tell her straight to the point and bluntly that you want it to end, because it’s obvious that she wants more but you don’t, so there is no point in carrying on the relationship, but that’s entirely up to you, just sit her down and tell her straight, then if she is still up for some fun then great, if she goes away in tears then at least you have been fair, if she insists on stalking you then you need to delete her from MSN, delete her mobile No, do not answer any of her calls or texts ever, and if she hassles you at 3am in the morning call the police.
I would not recommend softlad’s approach, nobody deserves that

A couple of my best mates are of asian origin, (so no I am not anti Asian muslin etc)
but it’s the old saying, not every muslim is a terrorist but every terrorist is a muslim, (or some bent islamic extremist faith), and this is a shame because people are going to look at Asians in the UK with that ere of suspision, I do agree with the above comment that the muslim communities could do a little more to expell the extremist Jihadis amongst them, and yes alot of muslims were dancing around when 9/11 happened, we play cricket against a pakistani side after 9/11 and the way they were acting was shocking, and I heard a comment about Bin-Laden which was “one man’s enemy is another man’s hero”, I won’t tell you what I said 🙂
Regarding searches when the wife & I were on our way back from Australia in 2002 we went through security at Sydney and they wanted to inspect our shoes, and then they wanted to ruffle through our suitcase, then I thought, well there’s alot of dirty underwear in there, if they want to sift through it they can carry on
I downloaded and had a fly of the new demo last week, I must say it is a vast improvement, the ATC is actually quite real compared to the rubbish in FS9, the planes are excellent as well and graphics are superior, and the flight models alot better than their current offering, this version is going to be great, and it ran very very well on my system and I saw no program degradation on my system
Many congratulations murph, well done you
You could always catch a flight back with Weaver on one of his ferry flights 😉
