Sad news indeed
The smoking ban in public areas won’t affect the tax revenue one iota, because, smokers will move outside. Just look at the number of people who stand around, in all weathers, outside of offices where smoking is banned.
Totally agree, I’m not implying that you thought that this was what I was saying but my point was if the government had it’s way and 100s of thousands of people gave up smoking then where would the extra revenue come from? the non smokers of course. Maybe their add campaign shouldn’t be “Smoking Kills” but more like “Smoking Kills, but keep doing it cos we need the 3 billion pounds p/a revenue”
Personally people can do what the hell they want, as long as they do not smoke in my house, car, plane or in and around the vicinity of my children I don’t really care.

The government as usual show double standards, on one hand they want everyone to give up smoking, on the other hand they cannot afford the tax revenue reduction so will have to look elsewhere to tax, usually in the form of stealth taxes, it’s the same as the cars, they want people to give up their cars but they can’t sustain the loss in taxation from petrol, as well as the public transport system being an absolute joke & shambles (sorry to digress)

[QUOTE=’lectra] I do feel your comments here were somewhat sweeping and possibly ill informed.
Rant over ! π

Having downloaded nearly every conceivable PA-28 available at avsim, flightsim & simviation in search of a great aircraft and test flown them for the said characteristics I would hardly call this “sweeping & ill informed”, if you would like to send me a copy of a payware model (for test flying only, illlegal copying is not condoned) then I would be more than satisfied to concur with your sentiments, conversly if you would care to point me to a link to download such an aircraft that has the said characteristics then I would be more than happy to agree with you.
rant over π

oh and david you may be interested in a “forum” fly-in we have on the 26th feb going into Leicester, check the GA forum for more details π
david
the flight model is not replicated very well on flight sim at all, you cannot sideslip, the stall behaviour is incorrect and you cannot spin the damn things, the only thing flightsim is good for really is VFR nav (if you have the right scenery) and IFR protocol.

Indeed, if the wind was coming from a direction of 240 or 060 the headwind component is zero as it is all crosswind, if you imagine the wind coming towards you in a diagonal direction you can see that you have headwind and crosswind, a quick rule of thumb to work out crosswind component is think of a clockface with 15, 30 & 45 minutes on it, if the wind is 15 deg off of runway heading the crosswind component is ΒΌ of the windspeed, if the wind is 30 deg off runway hdg then the crosswind component is Β½ the wind speed, and for wind that is 45 deg off runway heading the crosswind comonent is ΒΎ the windspeed, if it is 60 deg off runway heading then you assume maximum crosswind, the remaining speed once crosswind component is worked out is the headwind component
Hope this helps

She should have stowed it near the rear pressure bulkhead π she may have got away with it π
if you get any more information don’t forget to give us the heads up on it :p
Very nice Steve
Deano, he probably will be deported after his term is up – the Yanks will probably want their turn for one thing. And I support kicking him out, regardless of where he goes.
I second that Musashi, I couldn’t give a monkeys if he ended up on the moon, if the yanks want him good riddence, put him in a boat along with the rest of the cr@p that’s left in this country as well and set sail for rough seas

They have to make it last 45 minutes somehow (minus adverts) π
