But if you are going on a long haul trip the sensible thing to do is to keep checking your flight details incase any change especially if you have booked a few months in advance, as happened to me once going to Australia, I had booked 10 months in advance, one of my flights totally vanished off the airline’s schedule 2 weeks before departure, I noticed it on the web and then phoned & rebooked my seat, if you are that worried about obtaining the right seat etc then keeping up to speed is a small & fun price to pay
Or pre-book, which is as easy as 123 (only ever tried this on schedule not charter) 🙂
As for getting middle seats: it is not helpful to just suggest to prebook seats or turn up early. If it helped, everyone else would do it first, so chances are the only seats left are the middle ones.
Rubbish
Of course it’s helpful, I’ve flown long haul on widebodies more times than I can count and it works every time, to suggest otherwise is a little short sighted

I’ve flown in a Qantas 744, 742, 747-sp & 763 widebodies, all of which were superb, the best had to be the Qantas 763, wonderfully spacious, I’ve flown BA 744 many times and I cannot fault this either,
Surely Chornedsnorkak the seating arrangement is totally irrelevant because you can simply pre-book your seat or turn up at the airport earlier to get the seat you want.
The one’s with the best safety record, 744, 777, A340, there’s no point crossing the atlantic with a nice seat pitch if you won’t make it.
But on the other hand I am going to contradict myself here and say I don’t really care, I will choose the carrier on the basis of which one I like best, also I always try and support English carriers so BA & Virgin would be my choice even if i HAD to pay a little extra.
Of course you could always come along to the Today’s Pilot Fly-In at Nottingham (Tollerton) on August 27!
I’ve just had the official go-ahead and confirmed the date and will obviously keep you updated over the months ahead.
Traditionally we have a theme to the fly-in… this year we couldn’t resist marking the 60th anniversary of the DHC-1 Chipmunk.
See you there?
Best regards

Sounds like a good idea Steve, We will still go ahead with ours as well, I assume you will be joining us? 😉 and obviously you know the staff at Key & Today’s Pilot are more than welcome to join us too 🙂
It is going to be a DVD version, with the enhanced terrain mesh who knows how many, I’d say 2 max
Stunning Lance, I love the Aer Arran ATR, wonderful shot
Certainly get the latest drivers from nvidia, my system was very slow after I had installed my 6600 but the new drivers sorted it out instantly, also make sure your motherboard drivers & bios etc are up to date, what make of motherboard do you have?
The 6600 has it’s own processor so is not so “processor” dependant, I can’t imagine your system would run slower after installing a new card due to an inefficient processor due to the card’s independant processor, at worst I would have thought you would see no improvement, this is why it sounds like a driver issue.
