When i did my class 2 about 2 years ago it cost me £110, so you can add a little to this for inflation etc, it was a requirement of the Class 2 that you had your eyes tested and a form signed by the optician that undertook your test, there is a charge for this to be signed also and it should cost anywhere between £10 – £20

The medical included a blood test, eyesight test as well as the one you did at opticians, colour blindness test, heart check, hernia check (if you know what I mean 😉 ) basically the once over, if you are looking to go commercial in the next couple of years then it may be worth considering the Class 1.

    good luck

Im also for the idea of maybe 1-2 of the forum’s more “responsible” members to be given moderator status, then with some given guidelines threads can be deleted or locked as appropriate with full explanations given to the original poster.
It works on other forums, this way the current moderator/s havent got to troll the forums on a daily basis for signs of trouble.
Overall it is a very well run and friendly forum but as with everything in life there are a few who let the side down, Id rather see constructive criticism than out and out bickering 🙂

    Thoughts?

All for it, I could never ever understand all the posts saying “well done xxx 5,000 posts” etc, 100 or 5000 makes no difference, its the quality that counts, and as you can derive from my post count I generally only post when I have something constructive to say, if I havent then I just read whats been posted and keep my opinions to myself.
I am a member of quite a few forums similar to these, and on one of them this same step was taken as people tended to post for the sake of posting and alot of spam ended up being displayed as there seemed to be a “competition” to see who could post the most, I suppose the best thing to come out of it was the forum provider didnt have to supply as much badwidth to deal with the spammage.

    Go for it

    hehe,

I certainly will keep you posted Ian, just need to finish off my fitness program I started then its on the phone to Gatwick for the medical, I have a fear that I may need glasses now as at my age the old eyes start to deteriorate lol but my vision is ok, i.e. no defects
What do you think of Astraeus’ offer of the B737 TR and 100hrs line training? there is an interesting thread on pprune about it, Im not sure how they are going to go about offering it to potential customers i.e. whether it is going to be a selection process etc and a chance of employment at the end, I suppose the line training is the biggest draw as this offers us “noobs” “some” experience on the line and could be an advantage, I will find out more after Saturday’s Seminar but I suppose the burning question is whether a 737 TR is the way forward with so many A320s entering service within the UK airline base, but hey thats the gamble

Just gotta pass my Class 1 medical (should be taking it in next 4-5 weeks) then start Modular ATPL with BGS, intending to buy into a group to hr build and then do my IMC / Night / Multi / IR / CPL with either Bristol or maybe Stapleford as Astraeus are offering a B737 TR with 100hrs Line, going to the seminar this Saturday to see what the bonds are etc. Im intent on doing the MCC and JO courses too.
Then hopefully once i gain my fATPL I can land a job with anybody flying anything, we can’t be too picky in this current climate, then my ultimate aim is to fly the 777, Id also like to emigrate to Australia and fly the A330 for them.
How am I going to fund it? Remortgage the house and sell the missus and my unborn child on Ebay to the highest bidder 😀

Im sure LASORS will tell you but as to the whereabouts within it you will find the reference I have no idea, I assume you know you can view LASORS online from the CAA website?

Try posting on the “other” forums (am I allowed to say the name here?) as this would be in their knowledge base.

wys Id stay with Airbus mate, whatever my feelings for the 744 are (and they are strong) Id say if Virgin were to phase out one of its fleet it would be the 744 so stay with the bus mate 🙂

gl in whatever you have decided 🙂

We all have the option of not replying to ANY of his posts if its that hard to understand, or if he gets on people’s t!ts that much then I can’t see for the life of me why you would want to reply to any of his posts in the first place if all you expect is a non-coherent answer.
