the odds of sticking a spade into the ground anywhere on this “Sceptered Isle”and not hitting a buried Canadian pine packing crate now seems very small indeed…
I guess we can’t see the alumium for the trees (in box form)
Quote: ‘Hundreds “or potentially thousands” of bombers, fighters and trainee aircraft are still scattered across Britain…’
What exactly are trainee aircraft?
The world is all going mad!
You all have my support
Just caught up on this thread this morning, and I would like to offer my support for the Three.
And of course to the Mods of this forum, who have done their best (and possibly more) in very difficult circumstances.
Please come back guys, you would all be missed.

I’ll pass on a ride until they fix the fuel tank thing!
I thought they had been upgraded to fix that at great expense, just before they decided to ground then?
Airline?
smearing the dirt away from the cockpit canopy by now, peering at an immaculate green painted cockpit interior.
I wonder what the problem is?
Maybe the problem is that the canopy cover is still in place? 🙂
Is anyone going to request 120 Spitfire canopy covers, and corner the market for all those coming from Burma?
We’ll know they’ve found them when someone requests 120 Spitfire canopy covers on the “Cockpit canopy covers, anyone?” thread!
Don’t worry, plenty more coming from Burma in original markings (fingers crossed)
Invading Japanese?
Odd, the article states the planes were “hidden by British forces to keep them out of the hands of invading Japanese.”.
When exactly was this invasion, surely this was *BEFORE* the spits were buried!
Oh wait, maybe the Guardian don’t have a clue what they are talking about. Yes, that will be it. Unless there really was a Japanese invasion scare after the end of the war.

Me110A FW190D
Hi Tim,
Interesting page from your log book. I see the 110 is listed as an ‘A’ model, which seems unlikely. Was the 190 a D?
Steve
China also had some, so maybe there are some still there (along with the Stirlings). It is possible the Japanese could have captured one, although I don’t recall ever hearing of one.

Only if you live in New Zealand. If they ever do one over here, it’ll fly once then end up grounded like the RE.8, Albatros etc. Is the Vimy replica grounded now too? would be nice to see an O/400 and Vimy in the air together! Imagine those at Old Warden!
