If Im not wrong, Didn’t the general olympic spirit (all nations come together as sport ect…) actually mean that nations can be presented without nationalistic boast, not to mention military sabre clashing? Thats why the ’36 games gets all the dirt upon it in the history books; thats why the Americans couldn’t raise the flag found in WCT after the strike in Salt Lake??

To me it seems that most ones in this thread hasen’t got even sligthest clue of what the olympics are about:confused:

My first ever idea for novel was a thriller of somewhat tragicomical bunch of ex-Stasi and KGB officers who tries to attempt a major scale terrorist attack in USA. They called themselves “The league of november 11th”. Now this idea had emerged in my mind long before the actual terrorist attacks and after the biggest fuzz was calming down and after media started to use the 9-11 tag, I realized that bloody hell they stole my tittle…
…Well not efactly the title but at least the same 11th day. What would have happened if I would have tried to sell the book to publishers??

What was so special in 11th day??? If you some odd reason just have to fly planes against tall buildings why not pick the 10th or 12th day???

    …Bloody terrorists…

The PLA can do “reject” items that are superior because of cost and because of volume. There was no doubt that the J-9 was the superior design but yet the J-8 was the one accepted in numbers while the J-9 was canceled.

Hmm…J-9 was left as it is, a cancelled program not becouse chinese “choosed” to do so but as they were forced to do so. J-9 was slightly outdated back when it was designed and as the capacity to actually produce it wasen’t ready the development period lasted long and long and…untill the whole concept was so badly outdated that even the chinese own capability to design more modern aircafts had emerged. So J-8 was choosen simply becouse there weren’t no other fighters availble. Chinese aviation industry wasen’t able to put the J-9 program to live untill time had passed it so much that it would have been ridicilous even in chinese standarts. New and much more capaple design, J-10 inherited the J-9’s position and it had the benefit of the whole aviation industry matured enough to be able to produce it.

I’ve met many nationalists who think otherwise. We’ve a few Russians here in Japan too, and they’re no better as well when it comes to nationalistic sentiments.

As far as i’m experienced, none is better from another when it comes to nationalism, its more down to different factors like age and stuff:rolleyes:

I never said it wouldnt, just that any idea that Russia will ever rival the US, China or India in the future is pure fantasy

Well I could easily say the opposite and state that any idea that Russia will remain just some minor scale power is fear-driven whishfull thinking. But who knows, I’m no farseer and frankly neither are you so what can you do?;)

I never said Russia was not powerful just that it no longer has super power potential like the US, China and India do. If you want to fantasize about about Russia becoming a true super power again you will be sadly dissappointed. Oh and in ten years time there will be even less Russians in the world.

Russia wont raise to the levels of USSR, but it will certainly increases its influence compared todays levels.

Well ofcourse they wont sound as they use to..Tough Jason is a good drummer, he is no way near of his father. But the whole point for these reunions is not to expect them to sound as they use to. I’ve seen both Jethro Tull and The Who during this summer and with both I was somewhat positively suprised as I didn’t expect perfromances that they use to do back in the days..

But the question is, will the concert be filmed for TV?
