The research bans you mention restrict government funding of activities. Not their discussion or publication of any findings, or the research itself.
There is plenty of research going on, but privately funded.

To my knowlidge it is a criminal act in these mentioned countries to deny the holocaust, it’s not just the unwillingness of fund research…and thats why it is even more unjust.

But not with the criminalization of the holocaust denial. No matter how absurd it sounds people should still be allowed to belive in it. Banning that is agaisnt the very basics of freedom of speech and by this against founding thetis of EU. All scientifical research (at least historical) should be free from all govermental issued rules and regulations set by to endorse some “commonly know fact”. How on earth do you think that science would go onward if you set some lame moralical bans and restrains to it? How can you say that your country supports freedom of speach if it has these kind of regulations?

You know, few years back a american scientist announced the results of her genetical studies which showed that 90% of all east meditireanian population (Lebanese, Palestinians, Eqybtians and even Israelians) shares the same genetical backround which basicly means they are the same “nation”. This study was bashed by non-scientific US right-wing press and the scientifican was forced to be silent of her discovery and all those who agreed or suported her wievs or even the right to be treated as scientist where demonised as nazis and terrorist-lovers…

Well given the fact that the questioning of the holocaust is made criminal in certain western european countries, I think its just positive that at least in some place you can investigate and conduct normal scientific research and it’s assosiated discussion on all matters…tough its clear enough that this is just propaganda against Israel, but still in principle it’s a good thing…
