well liked it or not, next century migth be ‘chinise’ century and even if the most optimistic forecasts fails, china is rising power whit constantly improving its influence over its neighbours and beyond. If there isent any power to protect today, there will be one in tomorrow.

And to support that growth china needs strong navy with great reach and ultimately there will be time that the PLAN cannot fullfill its task with out martime based airpower. Maybe not today but tommorow???

Then we all know that China needs to forge its carrier craft from the start. No one is coming to helping them and it takes propaly half a century to have substansial carrier fleet. Its almoust irrelevant which plane of the current catalogue will suite best in the some PLAN groupies fantasyes of some nankinj-payback mission, when PLAN is ready to be considered as true martime power, we are talking about 6th or 7th generation of fighters, not 4.5 or 5th.
But PLAN knows that it has lost too many deades in the carrier path and it should not waste any more time to commision its first carrier and start making mistakes whit it and eventually learn to how to use it properly.
The most suitable plane therefore would be either the one with best logistic support and training facilityes or the one most properly suited for basis of future operational carrier air group.

Any case the chinese carrier would be reality in next five years….thougth it would not be that sort of reality that the mentioned ‘chinese section’ would like to have, but I keep wonder why it is so hard to the equally annoying ‘US section’ (that has formed into every military forum minimizing others and overexaggerate themselves) realise the simple logic and strategical idea behind the current chinese carrier program????

why i foud the article odd is that in wery short text it claims that china is accuiring Su-33, devolping indegenious carrier fighter and also trying to purchase Rafale….I dont know, but least me that sounds rather suspicious. Why go for three competiting solutions? and why mention such dissorder in article??…could this all be…?? :diablo: ???

I didn’t understand your comment. You mean that the 22350 is a guard ship? Where are you from?

well the russian term Storozhevoi Koralb (SRK) means guard ship and historically Russian/Soviet navy has used that term for ships that in west would be called frigate (erroresly thought as russian ships of SRK tag are more like guard ship than frigates by nature)
what i have seen and heard about 22350, it appears to be kinda like frigate of its largest meaning in the west so I wouldn’t get heart attacks if someone calls it SRK….

In those pics that snakey posted, the first shows one of the 052B under construction (regocnition is quite easy) and seccond shows one of the two 054’s (note the four equal size Ak-630 in the place where should be Type-730 and two Orekhs if it was a 054A)

What comes to the squarrel of the 054As missiles, it’s way to premature in this point. Without doupt it will be either SA-N-12 or some chinese derivate of it (I personally belive the first on ebeing true) but not some entirely different size missile with different guidance systems, othervice why would there be Orekh/Fregat configuration? Also I wonder where you are digging this “4500 tons”?? The ship is not significantly bigger than it’s predeccors and thus I belive it’s full load displacement is only slightly bigger than the full load displacement of the 054.
