Throttle control boxes
Two throttle control boxes.
The one with the trim wheel is Oxford. The other has the magic letters HP stamped on it.Could it be a Victor quadrant?
The other three photos are a mystery.
That is the throttle quadrant from the Bruntingthorp Victor !!! The CAA had it removed to prevent any further ‘take offs’.:D MMMmmmmmmmm !! hows that for provenance.
(please don’t take that too seriously TrTh………….:diablo: )
Look what I found in ‘my barn’ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D
XTANGO – Any nice wing bits in that wood? Swapsies?
Sorry..no wing bits.:(
I think they must be in Andy’s big shed at the bottom of his garden. Last time I looked it was full of contraband !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:diablo:
‘The biter bit’!!!!!!!!!!
We had one of those stolen from Tangmere about 10 years ago (Fury spade)
Those were the days, when museums could leave things on display.
Nowadays they are behind armoured glass with cameras watching all and everybody.
The times we live in ?? MMmmmmmmmm
Can you ask them to do it in summer time….then we won’t have to freeze our b…s off looking for them next time !!!
OOooooohhhhhh!!! Gulp….I should think so tooo, cking and Tangmere 1940…naughty boys !!!!
The long side is 4″, the shorter ones 2″ and 3″. the two larger holes are 1″ diam. and the two smaller ones are 3/4″. The part appears to be new and unused.
Fantastic pics of the 110 in Germany today.
Here are some pics taken by the recovery team whilst I was there in 1991.
Plenty of other pics of Hurricanes, Tomahawks, Hampden, 109’s ect.
Shouldn’t this thread should be brought to ‘heel’, or at least ‘bend the knee’.
What features as the projectile might be part of one of Mr. Sugg’s burners.[/QUOTE]
The two items were always presented together, and fit ‘snuggly’ together. I am checking the sites offered and am willing to be persauded that it is an early cannon shell.
The ‘cooking apparatus’ of Mr Snugg’s burners does not sit well, only offering a rather explosive kitchen.
Perhaps Mr Snuggs was an outside wartime contractor, returning to his kitchen duties at the end of hostilities ?
Yes, the projectile head fits tightly into the brass shell as normal…..its the flat screw end marked with ‘snugg’ that is the curiosity.
No Luftwaffe Lightnings I’m afraid, but if their had been, this is what it would have looked like !!
I have been reading with interest, the for’s and against’s of ebay selling items in the last few posts, and am all for ‘getting back to the topic’. However, just before I do, I would like to point out that I thought that putting some of my items of interest on this forum, would stimulate interest and comment. Nearly all my pieces have historical interest, and many of them have a immediate use to builders of flying ,static and cockpit projects. Museums,(although they always plead poverty) have also shown great interest.
Unfortunately, I received some ‘sniping’ posts complaining that I was using the forum to gain conformation of some of the items, and then putting them up for sale on Ebay.
I thought this forum was for the interest of all members to see and dicuss a spectrum of aviation subjects, including rare and not so rare artifacts of interest. The fact that they appear on Ebay afterwards is neither here nor there after the forum has seen and possibly discussed them. I have never said they were available for sale, but it would seem that when an icon like Hurricane is put up for sale and virtually advertised on the forum….well that’s OK.
No more hypocrosy please gentlemen.
All that has been achieved is that I no longer post items of interest I thought this forum would like to have seen and discussed.
Are they going on to Ebay ?
