Delighted to hear of the safe return of your most valuable historic WW11 exhibit.
I had worried that it might not come back to these shores, so ‘welcome home’ for January, and everybody dig as deep as possible, to help the well worth ‘defecit’ reduction.

    Well done chaps !!

I think, having sat in a ‘109’, that the hood was deemed very ‘tight’ and difficult to lift up and get out of what was a pretty small space.
Adolph Galland designed the ‘Galland hood’ for Herr Willy, and it can often be seen on documentary films of the Luftwaffe in action

Ok you non pilots! Harden up!! As a pilot of 56 years and approx 19,000 hours , I can say the lad knew what he was doing and there was no danger to himself or the environment. We used to run a Cherokee 6 and a DH Drover as our jump ships and they were flown a little more exuberantly than the above Dornier. I will try to dig out some NZ topdressing film and if you want low level contour flying will try to get some of the DC3’s we used here. (5 1/2 ton of superphosphate per load)

There are old pilots and bold pilots……………….

I remember a B 52 ‘last flight’ by a middle age pilot with many hours and no danger to the environment untill……………………………….

They have the right to be heard

    Gents

First of all, thanks for your collective support/comments.

Peter Arnold and I have watched developments unfold. First, surprise. Then puzzlement. This was followed by a protracted period of amusement, although that was wearing thin by late afternoon and by close of business this evening I am afraid that somebody flicked a switch for me. To a large extent, that was on the back of information this afternoon that rather put a different perspective on things – leastways, insofar as Key Publishing not coming back with something by close of business today is concerned. Instead, there is a deafening silence.

If it was just a matter of being banned from the forum, that is perhaps really unimportant in the big scheme of things. However, the words reaching our ears this afternoon make me exceedingly angry that Key have not contacted us to tell us what the hell is going on.

I gave them the benefit of the doubt on Friday and over the weekend, fully believing that we would be contacted today. So, that benefit of doubt has now evaporated as far as I am concerned.

I have no objection to any of you posting up the above if you want to.

    Thanks again.

    Andy

The other two are longstanding members who I have a lot of respect for, so I like others will miss them much more than this other chap who I do not know.

until its controllers grow some and learn to stand up to bullying legal or otherwise. Doubt if I’ll be missed, how many going would it take though? After all your not providing a service, your providing an advertising platform!
    Disgusted of Tunbridgewells.

Totally agree with both posts…thank G.d other people think the same.

Received this from Andy (I have his permission to post) – most forum users would find the way he feels very understandable in the situation:

For myself, my feeling at present is that whilst I understand Key’s position the action was high-handed and insulting. Having just completed some commissioned work for various Key titles, and committed to an expensive series of adverts in the New Year, perhaps doubly so, for me. If invited back, my view at the moment is that whilst I might ‘lurk’ or remain a forum member I would not wish to post again – as things stand. I would at least expect some explanation as to what, exactly, I have been accused of. And by whom. Last time this happened nobody ever knew why, not even the Mods. Nobody would, or could, explain. I am not prepared to tolerate that again, really, and in the absence of any explanation then I would certainly reconsider my future relationship with Key publishing. I am, though, grateful for the support of all of the mods (publicly and privately) and feel they have been dealt a very poor hand to deal with over a period of 48 hours plus.

Further to Andy’s quote above, one might imagine a contra paragraph to Key from either one or both Peter and Andy

“You have been banned from using material supplied by Andy Saunders. Reason for ban: None Given. Date ban will be lifted: Never.”

From what I have been told, it is likely that

‘ they will not go back even if ban is lifted, and I suspect they really will cease contributing to their journals.’

It would be easy to judge these comments, as knee jerk reactions. However, after the previous mishandling ,and an absolute negative from Key as to whether any comments made were ‘out of order, libelous or actionable’, it was insulting and derogatary to both parties to be summarily judged and dismissed the forum with such force. Remember the word ‘never’. ‘Surely just remove the thread and ask that the matter is no longer discussed. Simples’

Key need to get their act together quickly, carefully asses the words written by two mature, prolific and experienced authors. What was in the public domain last week, and perhaps consider backing their own members and stop panicking at the first sign of a legal challenge.
Loyalty seems thin on the ground here, and other members may see fit to withdraw their services to Key and this forum, unless sensible, weighed up and decisive decisions are forthcoming in the very near future.

I have just spent the last hour reading the 6 pages of postings, leading up to the eventual banning of the well known and respected ‘Three’.
I am in possession of a great deal of cross referring information concerning Burma..SS..and SHT., and can assure members that the complete story is extremely involved and highly litigious, even though some, but certainly not all, is already in the public domain.
I can see that Key had no alternative, although in haste and under pressure, to act visually in banning the ‘three’.
In my humble opinion, there will come a time for them to be reinstated with honour, if indeed they would want to……but not just yet.
Our moderators have explained ( sometimes more than once ) and acted exactly as is within their remit, and no blame or reaction can be levelled at them.
What I hope for is an honourable return to our forum, of three long term and respected members. We can ill afford the loss of such members.
