‘In the beginning………’
‘In the beginning………’
Aahhhhhh………..
Aahhhhhh………..
Gosh.
It only seems like yesterday that I spent a while living under the circuit of lumbering Varsities, incessantly plodding around and, once, getting an AEF on one for a flight out to Ely, round the cathedral and back to Oakington.
Was it really that long ago?
You are getting very very old now Andy….catching me up soon !!!

:dev2::(:diablo:Hands up everyone who’s done a low pass……….
:):rolleyes::confused::mad::cool::D;):p:eek:
No serious minded aicraft conservationist could possibly condone the sheer risk of flying that low……..but geeeee !!!! as a pilot that takes some doing and ……..boy is it FUN…(Go and stand in the naughty corner)
‘Hardly a field without one’ me thinks though doth exaggerate to much my lord!!!
In Germany perhaps, you could buy a field and wait !!! But in Hastings..Nay I say…all sensible pilots would fly over it and avoid it..foresooth….
Petersfield ,Hampshire. Within 1 to 3 miles from my abode:
1939 Blenheim crash landed
1940 Me 109 Peter Becker (KIA)
1940 2 Ju88’s LG1 The Jumps
1940 Me 109 Blendworth
1944 Spitfire MH480 P/field Heath
1944 Spitfire PL831 crashed in flames ?
1952 Anson G-AGZS all killed
1953 Wyvern S4 VZ751 American exch.pilot killed
I actually saw the Wyvern go in, and was at the Anson crash the next morning (very grisly).
Given a 6 mile radius there are a multitude of wartime crash sites around me….too numerous to print right now.
Is there a particular reason for the lack of cooperation or does it vary?
Petty jealousy’s, NIMBY’ism, Cameron/Sarkozy, the Euro, Waterloo, We’re not speaking German ‘but no thanks to you’, …………….
Like to add any more??
Feel free
Absolutely marvellous !!! these pics take you right back to those days…and with names and places as well….Thank you Daniel…a real treasure find…wow !!
Sean Penn’s idiotic comments remind me of a U2 concert some years ago, when the lord almighty ‘BONO’ stopped playing in the middle of the show and began methodicaly clapping his hands above his head and saying…”every time I clap my hands, a baby dies in Africa”…. a wag from the audience shouted back..‘well stop f…… clapping then’ !
Self centred Celebs…who’d have ’em ?
I wonder where India’s priorities are when I read this thread and http://in.reuters.com/article/2012/02/16/india-malnutrtion-feature-idINDEE81F0BA20120216.
MMmmmmm….I concur…..
He’s got fed up with digging up Spitfire after spitfire after spit……..Mmmmmm
I think you will find it is…the roundel on the 1st(older) pic is not very prominent, but it is ‘high’ on the fusalage on both sides. Numbers and letters are the same, and I don’t think there is much chance of two different aircraft having the same ident. letters being shot down in similar circumstances on different days.
