‘6A/780 is a Generator, Mk IV, for Mk IVA and Mk IVB Engine Speed Indicators’.
Could you tell me what age and possible aircraft fit?
A couple of interesting pieces
Help needed !!
The control grip is jet age. Can anyone identify which possible aircraft.
The Kelvin Bottomley & Baird Ltd is stamped AM. What is it ect.?
The oil tank is plated by Lockheed and has been refurbed. Any ideas ?
[QUOTE] ‘Although a casual glance at the photos in books and Pilot’s Notes etc might suggest the two are exact copies, there are small but significant differences if you know where to look. They affect collectability and price too, of course [QUOTE]
Thankyou AM, for your explicit reply together with pics. These details uphold the professionalism of most members on this forum. They are of significant assistance to those of us who try to be accurate on items and subjects of which we have limited knowlege.
I have scraped away the paint where shown by AM, and have used a magnifying glass to read the numbers 1052231-3, thus proving the Oxford number. It would seem from further research, that De Havilland did initially use the Oxford control column, but modified it for use in the Mossie, as well as stamping their own works number.
I shall now put these findings on my ebay listing.
Great job AM….thanks
Mosquito/Oxford control column
I’d like to see some part nos. mentioned because it looks more like an Oxford column to me.
‘Just to pick up on your control column analogy – it was the same as the Oxford column!!’
Quoted by Bruce from de havilland museum on a thread in Feb 2004
The nos. on the ebay column are: 161P 11 112
There are no other visable markings, plates or whatever.
If anyone can tell me convincingly i.e. new numbers, plates or definitive differences between this one and another type, I would be pleased to change the ebay ref of the column I bought in good faith as a Mosquito control column.
Can anyone tell the difference between a Spitfire and Hurricane spade ???
Another couple of items for your expert opinion.
The u/c leg is purported to be from an Otter amphibian (Port side)
The other a possible starter for Sea Hawk.
I think the leg is too light and small for a Blenheim. Something older..late 20’s to middle thirties perhaps….
The merlin part is available.
F 104 Starfighter
Starfighter now parked safe and sound with her ‘beak’ back in place. ATC at Lasham have taken her under their wing until her future is decided.
Lasham update
A rather sad picture of the Drover…..word has it that its future is not certain and that the D.H. museum may not want it after all.
Aussies like a bit of blind flying…..’I’m roving in a Drover’…or something like that!!!
5779 is Oxford
Ah05048 is Hurri 2
Ah5000 is Hurri 1
cheers old fruit!
‘Thanks awfully old chap’….much obliged.(lost my bet!!)
A couple of shots inside the Drover this week……’Muck and filth (flyes) everywhere Mr Warwick’….
You’re quick Andy….I nicked it from your wheelbarrow last time I was down in Hastings !!
Can you help with the numbers on my supposed Hurricane tail wheel? Thanks
Here is similar with AHO5779/2…H5436….SF340B…AHO2513…AHM222… Tyre size 4.95-3 &1/2..WM 14.. stamped ‘electrically conducting’ ?
Enough letters and numbers for some answer perhaps.
