There was a report published few months ago that mentioned that USN is pushing hawkeyes so they can link up with the PN hawkeyes and gather information. The number is between 8 to 10. PAF has tested Erieyes and have liked it. I am not sure if they are still in Pakistan for any further testing.

I can see two scenerios, from what you have mentioned if Pakistan is buying few F-16s then most likely they are looking at Grippen and Erieye package deal.

Unless PAF is looking for two separate orders of F-16s, new ones under FMS and older ones under aid programme with MLU and hawkeyes.

Lots of people have suggested they might go for both hawkeye and Erieye deal but thats highly doubtful.

    > So far I have not seen one disinformation about any chinese military equipment

har de har har 😀 the J-10 finally stablized into its final form after God knows how many
thousands of PSed “visions” by enthusiastic people.

PSed images are one thing but J-10 did exist, and there was no denying to it. even if you go back to late 2003 yo will still see the same PSed image of the J-10 without anystructural changes. Point I am trying to make is even the chinese enthusiasts never showed any PSed images of equipment that didn’t exist.

if you really talked to Pakistani general and if he is retired then he should have definitely told you that retired officers are completely out of classified material specially new purchases.

Even if you asked a serving wing commander about any on going purchases or deals, he wouldn’t be lying if he told you that he ad no idea.even in DJ, you would never see any ex-officer speculating on what ilitary is working on or trying to buy.

Pakistani military purchase circle is very closed. Besides the senior commanding officers whoes units require certain equipment, no one knows whats going on, even they don’t know the ins and outs of the dealings and this is to avoid any kickbacks also.

dont forget that PAF is in love with F-16s

if the general suggested that some are influencing more F-16s and some want european platform then he was giving his and some of the officers’ personal opinion which would be far from the reality.

anyone can come up with a hypothetical price for a unit aircraft. What people dont get is arms purchase is a very complicated deal and it expands over a period of years, its not like buying a car or such.

per unit F16 price varies from customer to customer depending upon the depth of the deal. Since PAF has all the facilities needed for maintenance of such type, unit cost will always be cheaper.

I never understood the logic of “JF-17 must be a failure or not meeting the requirement that’s why more F-16s” which only emanates from the Indian posters. If that’s the logic, then one can assume that Arjun is a failure that’s why 400 more T-90s are in the planning or LCA failed since IAF is looking to buy 125 jets from other sources?

PAF never said that JF-17 was a high tech fighter for us and will be the front line fighter for years to come. Last ACM Mushaf Ali Mir even said that PAF was/is looking for a 4th generation aircraft and will be inducted in due time. Plus him and others also mentioned that US would not be the only source of advance fighters, it could be Europeans along with some Chinese projects. PAF has been watching J-10 very closely but its little far from maturity, even for the PLAAF.

Reports that suggested that JF-17 will be canned should be put to rest once the inauguration of JF-17 factory at Kamra was commenced last week. From what I have heard PAF has finalized the radar and avionics suite but its been kept hushed up.

Some reports suggested that air-intake has been designed and will be visible with the 4th prototype. Some of you guys also suggested that, it means a different engine. F-16 also uses two different companies for engines, i.e., P&W and GE, but no redesign was ever done for the air-intake.

I believe by the end of this month we should know the numbers and type of F-16s and we should witness the 4th prototype in flight pretty soon as well.

So far I have not seen one disinformation about any chinese military equipment. Anything that has been reported on the internet by enthusiasts have come true. J-10, FT2000, subs, naval vessels, tanks, you name it.

Its widely known that China has been working on different cruise missile projects, some are based on Russian designs and some are off of US.

actually you need to get your facts straight, Pakistani centriguges were sent to UN not at US request but at Iran’s request, do a search on the net, you will have your answer.

    getting back to JF-17;

    This is from pakdef.

Some small JF-17 news bits. German company ‘RHODE & SCHWARZ’ will be supplying the communication gear for JF-17 – contract was signed few months ago. Martin Baker is marketing its Mk.16LE ejection seat for JF-17.
