1fat. Small but salient point – the second referendum petition was started by a brexiter who thought the xenophobes wouldn’t win. He was wrong, and the signatories, though a democratic minority, are nevertheless enjoying that small irony.

What I am getting from a small sample down my local is a slow burning dawning among SOME ‘out’ voters that they have done something a bit silly in the cold light of day, and a second referendum would yield a different result.

Sadly I also witnessed a local shouting out of a window at a passing Polish mother with a toddler ‘Now you can pack your f*cking bags and f*ck off’. Now there’s someone riding high on democracy in action.

I concur that the principle of democracy is paramount and a majority have spoken.

Neither side covered themselves with glory in this campaign.

I do not fear for the long term – yes we can take it and move on. No Champagne for me, though. The local economy here in my home town will suffer, as a major element driving it – technical and pharma – benefits from EU loans and start-up funds as well as cross-border collaborations that are currently free of barriers and bureaucracy, but which will not remain so. That was the essence of the campaign locally, I am not sure that qualifies as ‘project fear’. Just a bit sad that this will now come to pass.

Still, let’s move on. If this spells the end of oily Dave, then some good will have come of it.

What does the Telegraph tell you to say to those of us who were not ashamed to be British before, but are now, because to the rest of the world we have made an inexplicably self-damaging decision based on the stirring up of fear and loathing among the ‘I don’t understand politics and stuff but its all them foreigners fault innit’ constituency. If you are knowingly lied to, and it’s your choice to buy anyway because it’s cheap, that’s entirely your choice. If a warning has appeared because enough punters have spotted the fake and been moved to report it (not that that would really happen for a branded battery) and you still buy it it is still your choice!

Something democratic, like ten people have complained about the same issue with the same item, then it gets flagged up as an ‘advisory’, simply stating that 10 people have voiced concerns, and thus ‘buyer beware’? And have the issue in question present as an option on the drop downs -this will make the process automatic. Something like ‘History of item easy to fake and not proven / impossible to prove in this instance’, so nothing too accusatory at any stage?

More a sort of ‘heads up’ reminder from the herd to any newbies just what sellers are capable of, and that this item is the sort of item an unscrupulous seller would do this kind of thing with. Nice and wishy-washy to deter ambulance chasers.
