    Yes. I understand the WE-177 is no longer around, but could a warhead from a trident be installed into a storm shadow?

    Could Storm Shadow be modified to carry a different warhead, giving the Tornado the option of taking on a deterrent role in the event that Trident is not replaced?

    I based my question on the F-4J, N, and S models that the navy was using in the late 1970’s (IIRC). These did not have an internal gun.

    What about a gun, could a 20 mm gun be installed into one of the upgraded Phantoms? If not the M-61, how about a single barrel 20 mm like the F-8 or F-5E?

    Hey I got a crazy idea. If you want a long ranged strike a/c, why not contact the Russians and ask them if you could purchase about 15 Backfires.

    Couldn’t the F-111’s be rebuilt? The USAF has rebuilt the B-52 fleet several times now.

    Hi all,

    Since we are already using the F-18 for fighters, and attack planes, plus recon and tankers as well; are we running the risk of putting all ‘our eggs in one basket’? What happens if there is something critically wrong with the aircraft and there is stand down to fix the problem, then what?

    Hello All, This is my first post. I understand that Italy has finally retired their F-104/ASA’s in favor of the F-16. I have also read that they do not have enough aircraft in inventory. Does anybody know what the status of Italy’s F-104’s? Were they all scrapped, donated to museums, etc? I wonder if any of them can be operated by a reserve force (similar to the US Air National guard) to help fill the gap.
