Those were the ones I flew in as supernumerary crew! The ones with the mid-upper turret! Where I did my Met Obs (when I wasn’t being Galley Slave!).
On one trip I was instructed by this fearsome Flt Sgt Siggie to get rid of the galley gash down the flare chute. Did so (but didn’t put it in a Sick Bag)!! Result: bacon rinds and tea/coffee bits spread over underside of fuselage. On landing, fearsome Flt Sgt Siggie instructed junior Met Airman to thoroughly clean underside on pain of nasty “extra duties”!!!

    Edgar,
You have hit the nail well and truly on the head – well done!!
Histrionics and ‘frothing at the mouth’ on the part of some led to a large number of, largely, nugatory Posts.
‘defamitory’ (Webmaster’s Post) is a spelling I’ve not come across before. Says it all, really!

M’Learned Friends off to the Pen & Wig at this time?
M’non-Learned Friends off to the Pig & Whistle at this time, or sending out for a pizza?
Things, apparently, taking a very nasty turn?
Some people may have to take a great deal more care in the future of what they publish on the internet – and not before time! No such thing (as they will learn!) as a Free Press/Internet!!!
Mods, you’ve done a magnificent job – although I thought that Moggy’s description of Mondays in the Key offices was absolutley priceless, and may have caused him to sail a little too close to the wind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Snoopy7422,
    Brilliant!
Some of the threads do however degenerate into something resembling an argument between (Illiterate!) washerwomen.
    Well said!

I had a go at this site a week, or so, ago (before the public announcement). It appeared to have a number of ‘hiccups’ then – which may, or may not, have been connected with bandwidth problems?
My main criticism is that one cannot (yet???) search for bomb plots on a particular day (well, if you can then I can’t find how to do it!).
Good site. Lot’s of interesting stuff there. Needs tidying up!

Does this include pictures, and/or descriptions, of the various panics seen in various Ops Blocks across Bomber/Strike Command on the night of the V-Force being put on operational stand-by on the night of the Cuban Missile crisis? I was there. Ho-Ho!!!

    Matt, Hi,
The current ‘C’ class road that runs SE > NW across the W end of Yeovilton’s main runway from ST 53912 23022 to ST 53397 23387 shows some very slight crop/soil marks on GE that it might – at one stage – have been extended to ST 52682 23767. That is, the small area. to the W of the Roman Road not occupied by the housing development to the NNE of Ilchester. That non-housing use of that area seems odd?
Admit that this grasping at straws – but more has been divined from less in the past

Phillips & Powis at Reading (Woodley) covered in some detail at (1) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miles_Aircraft, and (2) Temple, Julian C. Wings Over Woodley – The Story of Miles Aircraft and the Adwest Group. Bourne End, Bucks, UK: Aston Publications, 1987. ISBN 0-946627-12-6. If none of those give the answers then I’m sure that the helpful staff at the Museum of Berkshire Aviation will either (a) know, or (b) know who does!

And I’ll bet there are no SOPs for the Pembroke in either its ASR role, or its Stores Para-Dropped re-supply role?

I presume, by your comment, Eric, that you feel some bits of ancient aviation hardware are more important than the people who are likely to be killed/injured by Sandy, and/or the businesses and/or livelihoods that will be destroyed? Or have I missed something?
