Re para 2 of post #25. There are a number of specialist hospitals (in many countries) who cater for these persons!
HTH (but I know it won’t)

Had same thing as well. BUT on one occasion I got a page (I’m on AOL) that said words to the effect that the Key site had been informed. From that I assumed it was the Key site transmitter that had gone Tango Uniform, and not my receiver ditto!

That – I would have thought, in all humility – would have brought tears to the eyes of even the stoutest soul!
The sooner somebody comes up with the real purpose of this imbranglement then the sooner we shall be able to close what is becoming a lewd and suggestive thread. Not, you understand, that I am against those in principle provided they are well, and tastefully, done – and we can get them past the Mods!

Or to put a miscreants thumb in the hole (bottom left) and then screw down from above.

I have alerted at least one UK broadsheet newspaper to this event. I expect a fulsome Obit. Many who did less have got more!

Tony,
Current spelling of that famed location (according to a recent BBC South TV caption) is ODIUM.
Is there no end to this sort of idiocy?
Resmoroh.
Yes, significantly!
The Vulcan nonsense told me there were people (not aficionados of airshows) who were simply making a profit/living out of the aforementioned.
And, whenever there is a prang most folk on this forum are more concerned with the damage to the airframe (although they may give weasel words for the occupants). Seen it time and time again. Not good!

Re Pagen01’s Post #4 (para 3).
Now I don’t know anything about the hardware aspects of the Swift – be they good or bad. But I was, at one stage, an Airman Met Man at Waterbeach. The Swift Sqn was having troubles with the beast. Mike Lithgow came up to see if he could help. This was not said in my hearing, but was relayed to me on the “Jungle Telegraph”. Lithgow was reputed to have said “There’s nothing wrong with the aircraft. The problem is that the bog-standard Sqn pilot is just not good enough to fly it properly!”. I wonder how many ex-Swift pilots became CAS’s (or similar!). Food for thought.

Creaking Door, tks yr response.
Yr first sentence: Yes I can, and do!
Yr second para: WSC was not too concerned about the population of the UK – he had clowns (and I won’t name them for fear of causing an endless thread!) who did that sort of thing for him – and that is why he lost the 1945 election!. Further, he had little time for the black and/or brown races of the Commonwealth.
He was, however, a great war leader when this country badly needed one. His way of thinking was rooted in the Victorian era – say no more.
Some y’win, some y’lose!

But to be horribly historically practical, the whole Rhodes (and Dodecanese) shambles was yet another of Churchill’s badly planned, poorly resourced, amphibious ‘flights of fancy’. And yet another amphibious military disaster. Remember Gallipoli, Dieppe, Norway, etc? All Churchill’s ideas. He might have been a great wartime leader, but an amphibious assault technical expert he was NOT!!! Good job the Americans kept him out of OVERLORD!!!

With very great respect, Moggy, I would delete ‘Shropshire’ and insert ‘Somerset’.

I was posted to the Mob Met Unit HQ at 38 Grp, Odiham. It was decided that I should learn about helos (in general). Whilst doing some of these ‘familiarisations’ (we ‘dropped’ a Pak howitzer on SPPTA on one notable occasion!!) I enquired, casually, about the Belvedere (this was long before Chinooks!). The more elderly of the aircrew (who had obviously been and done Belvederes) erupted into the sort of language that the delicate souls on this forum would not like their maiden aunts to hear!!!!!!!!!!!!
