Some great pictures there Keith, especially shot number 1, my favourite cockpit section at Brunty. Even after all these years the Victor cockpit (from the outside anyway) manages to look futuristic.

And speaking of the cockptfest forum, Merkle appears to be selling a Wessex HU5 panel if your also missing that item.

Just out of interest Ive a pair of fuselage access panels which are stamped on the inside WM234.

I know that she survives in composite form with the museum at Lasham.

I think, its about 10 years to late to be talking about saving her.

Not all parts of the RAF Museum are bad though.

I recently contacted the museum to see what information, if any they held on my Meteor T.7 WL405. I cant fault the service that I received and the speed with which not only my initial enquirey but also follow up questions were dealt with. I was rather impressed.

Okay maybe my point has moved on from the initial discussion about the RAF Museum but it shows that not all is bad and in fact some is very good. πŸ˜‰

Excuse my stupidity but if a pass can be issued for the use of a tripod, why cant you just go ahead and use your tripod anyway? Whats the reasoning behind making you ask for a pass?

Makes landing an ME109 look a walk in the park

Makes you wonder though just how much time those things spend in the hanger been checked over for stress/damage to the wings.

If its for a static Ritch you could try Aerospace Logistics at Charlwood.

I spoke to them approx 12 months or so ago and they mentioned that they had two Hawks that they were possibly looking into making into one complete example. Dont know what state they were in though. Pictures on demobbed dont really show a huge amount. Serials were XX223 (cockpit) & XX357.

Maybe worth a try as some of Jet Arts SHars came from this source IIRC.

Just “an observation”, i wondered over to the photographic forum and back again. Couldn’t help but notice it’s 3 sub sections, entitled….

Tutorial, Airshow Photo’s and Civil Aircraft none of which seem best to cover photo’s of Historic types per se.

    .

    No military section either

Hi WL405 remember me? (Same name different forum) Of course I don’t mind you re posting.
If you look at the extream right end of the spare in your picture there is a triangular shaped rib extending aft of the spar. Our apprentice master, the Late Doug Beckford, designed that as an apprentice test piece. We all had to make one and the best was fitted to the aircraft. It took me days to make mine, so I thought β€œB*****r it going on the aircraft, I’m having it!” I still have it and the next time I’m in the loft I’ll get it down and post a picture of it.
The upper and lower angles were drilled and riveted together by myself and a few of the other lads, so no comments about the poor riveting!!!! πŸ˜€
It is a shame all our hard work has to go though.
Oh by the way the hydraulic reservoir was ruptured by a guy who now works for British Airways and one who works for United!!!!

    Rgds Cking

    Hello again,

I do indeed remember you. So much so that if you check the forum I borrowed this from you will find a PM from me advising you of this very thread πŸ˜€

Please dont worry about the bits coming of. They are part of the aircrafts history so they will be put away somewhere safe. They wont be binned I promise.

If you want to be reunited with the Meteor let me know and Im sure we can arrange something.
