Less of a problem with the Mk106 Adour fitted to the Jaguar GR3.
Which was why was that engine was fitted, to enable hot/high operations. Even so, a GR3 is attempting an LSR record every time it tries to take off when in hot high conditions. I saw a video of a Jag T4 take off in Jordan, that took almost the length of the runway.
The video was edited by my bro (He’s on 6 at the minute) and I hope he get Broadband soon as this clip a classic for Youtube Music of Get Connected by the Stereo MC (The passenger, a 6 sqn rigger, didnโt connect the leg restraints before strapping in (the Something ainโt right line of the lyrics is timed perfectly)) and a piece of music called Elevate which plays and plays and plays as the Jaguar struggles to get airborne.
I suppose I should have mentioned that there are 2 possible answers for number 7 (hint: it includes a cross as well).
That would be Malta (GC) ๐
13 – Papua New Guinea
MORE TAILS OF THE JAGUAR
To keep on the Coltishall theme, Tails of the Jaguar part 2 (as I cannot get them all in on Part 1). ๐ฎ ๐ As its Part 2, better throw some T-birds in. ๐

If the YANK forces couldnt do any good whilst they were there with all their resorces WHAT THE HELL DOES ANYONE EXPECT THE UK FORCES COULD DO ??? (WHY DID THE YANKS PULL OUT ANYWAY !!! WAS IT TOO HARD FOR THEM)
SIMPLE, I EXPECT THE UK FORCES TO HOLD THE GROUND (WHICH THE YANKS DIDN’T), KILL THE ENEMY AND WIN !!!!

Is it just me or has Britsh military planning been a joke since the 1950’s when they decided to replace all manned aircraft with missiles?
Its been a Joke since 1908, as most of our best aircraft have been the result of Private Ventures or have happened by accident.
Since the airframe is already cleared for use of the GAU-12, couldn’t the RAF simply borrow/procure, etc. a dozen or so such systems from the US and/or USMC?
Strikes me as a relatively simple solution, that would provide a significant increase in the utility of the handful of RAF GR.7/9s deployed.
Since this idea is very simple and seemingly practical, I’m sure there’s something I’m missing, or perhaps I am discounting organizational inertia and “Not invented here”-syndrome that affects us here in the US just as much.
Very recent experience has shown that a combat aircraft armed only with cannon still can be a difference maker – at least for the troops on the ground. The procurement of a few GAU-12 units seems to be a no-brainer. Then again, I might be an idiot.
The problem with fitting the Gun to the RAF Harriers is not the fact that the aircraft can be fitted with thing physically, but the software on the weapons system would have to be modified and no doubt other modifications would be required, plus the pilots would have to be trained in its use. Cost and Time would most likely be used to rule the fit out.
Why not employ Eurofighters and Tornados?
Typhoon is not yet A2G or even A2A operational. The first operational unit is still working up and will be AD only. Tornados not suitable for CAS mission operating from austere airfields and it would have problems.
