I wouldnt spend 25G’s for it (unless I was super duper rich) I’d put in some more and buy a used sailplane
I’d do the same, I know I can fly one of those, A Grob 103 would be nice.
Now at Β£25,000, Its a bit outside my penny power.
Not a brit, proud to be a Pakistani though! π
At least your lot play Cricket and have the right rank structure in your AF.
Roll on the Lightning FG Mk 1
The hats rather spoil the RAF’s though… π
Agreed π π π
50+ Megatons of death. Now that’s more than anything in this thread π
Just like the 50+ Megatons of death that I posted on #125 (page 5) of this thread. However the YOUTUBE video selection has a 7 min video of the weapon building, transport, mission planning, loading and drop which is very good (Music with it is tops and spot on). There is also footage of Ivy King the biggest US A-bomb on YOUTUBE which I’ve never seen.

How about this for the 6th Generation fighter! :diablo: :diablo: :diablo:

Fighting Falcon II, though its Pilots would most likely just call it a VIPER. π π π π
An air force that has done all the above!?
Seeing that the IDF have kicked the asses of every Arab airforce (except Jordon, Mirages v Hunters is a bit too one sided to be counted as an ass kicking) that they have fought against since 1948 (the only major losses that they have suffered in the air were against the SAM 6 and ZSU 23-4s in 1973), I would say that its not the IDF.
Mr Greenday is most likely a Brit and is pointing out to a little confict in 1982 where on paper the Losing side had at least a 4 to 1 advantage in fixed wing airpower, the Losing side was trained and equiped by the USAF, USN, IDF and the French and they were not bad stick and rudder men (good thing for the winners that their tactics sucked. ;))
Fair point, but to be fair its only 6 months of a 3-4 year training system. As for saying the best RAF students go there, I’ve always understood its more of a case of “X” no. Cse, you lot are off the NFTC, the next Cse of to 19sqn etc etc… – ie, bums on seats at the time – I wouldn’t think the system has the capacity to filter people to that extent. I stand to be corrected though.
BBC Wales did a series of programs about the 1st half of the 4FTS Advanced Flying Training course that was on BBC2 a while back. I think the NFTC courses were given to the best students on the end of the phase and the rest remained at Valley (Overseas Courses mean more Money for starters, plus the chance to go to more interesting places than Holytoilet (Having spent 4 years at Valley, I do Canada anyday)). However your right, if no courses at Cold Lake, then you will have to stay at Valley.
As for the RN, as someone has pointed out, they do the same syllabus as the RAF at Linton and Valley, and go to 20(R)Sqn to convert to the Harrier GR7/9, so the only difference being there slightly more camp uniform… :p π
Iβd have to agree on that one, as I was the βSomeoneβ who originally pointed it out. Saying that a RN uniform does look better on a female than a RAF one does (as you cannot call them WRENs or WRAFs anymore) π
What about the pilots of the Canadian airforce. With what there able to do with what equipment and budget they work on takes a very highly skilled pilot. They have always down very well in excercises, competitions etc.Now all pilots go through the state of the art NTFC and givin the open skys they can fly in make them the best trained pilots for the forseeable future
Seing that the best RAF pilots going though Valley go to NTFC for the Weapons phase of their training, would that not make those RAF pilots as good as any of the Canadian Armed Forces ones???
Got to be the Royal Navy.
Who just happen to be trained by the RAF in the case of the Fast Jet boys!!!!
Secondly, there have not been the opportunities. You can fault the training though can you – wasn’t the most successful SHAR pilot in the Falklands a Flt Lt at the time…
True, Plus the first SHAR kill was by a Flt Lt and the aircraft he got was not a Bomber. Its also got to be remembered that the Royal Navy Fast Jet Training was done by the RAF for most if not all the RN SHAR Pilots that flew in 1982 as well as the 7 RAF pilots on the SHAR force at the time.
Was the toilet bomb in the model kit????
Nope. It was perfectly fine for export if anyone wanted it. Probably because the avionics and weapons of Russian FOXHOUNDs got an upgrade after the espionage issue.
Funny old thing, I’ve just watched Clint nick a MIG 31 on TV :diablo: :diablo: :diablo:
Nice Footage of the Falklands there, I’ve been to most of the places under the Tornados (its even got footage of 4 airborne (RARE!!!)). The Radar site at the start is Mount Kent I think. I would have got the chance to take footage like that myself in April 1999 but for the fact that I was 2 stone overweight for the Mk 10 bang seat at the time that I could have taken the offer. My boss at the time offered me a F-3 ride in lieu of a VC-10 Tanker flight and a Herc trip to a little island a few hundred miles to the south east of the Falklands (the heavy trips being cancelled due to aircraft being broke). I’ve been in the 1435 Flt sheds myself back in 1989, however they had FGR2’s in them at the time.
