Nice.
Do you know what’s the logo added to PN-114 side door ?
Some kind of humanitarian program, not sure yet.

On an Angolan website I found this:

Conclusion: The turning point was 1980. Before that the upper roundels were used together with the tricolor finflash. (but not on all aircraft as pictures show us)
from 1980 until 2011 the Yin-yang roundel was used with the star. After 2011 the star was lost (but not on all aircraft at the same time)
I guess with the flag it is the same timespan, 1975 to 1980 red black flag with yellow star. After 1980 the present day flag. Again not on all aircraft and not changed overnight as pictures proves.
It may be right but i don’t put much trust in that source.
After a closer look, and given the aircraft types Angola operated at the time, i believe it is a An-26.
I see a Noratlas tail to the left, and a BN-2 tail to the right.
Between Noratlas’ tail and the first flag, just above C-47’s fuselage, there’s another tail with that fin flash. Can’t recognize of what type yet, though.
WHERE DO YOU GUYS GET THIS STUFF? It is absolutely amazing.
We’ve all spent hours, days, years of hour life surfing sites, foruns, etc. And then Facebook came…
OK, if you want these MiG from Bissau
Superb pictures!! Thanks for posting them here, archangelski.

Great find with the Mig, MiG!! Much better than this “avatar”.

I knew you could find’em and i’m eager for more! 😎
A few more from Guinea Bissau, some already known but don’t know if they’re posted in this forum:

Regarding the Guinean Do28, unfortunately it’s not military but a good catch though. It was recently recovered and put on display at the Osvaldo Vieira Airport’s entrance to celebrate the country’s Civil Aviation Agency 10th anniversary.

and at least one other type, its fin seen behind the C-47’s fuselage in this picture:

Just by looking at the serial numbers, and without doing any confirmation or cross-checking, my first guess is that the first batch(es) of the above mentioned types got the fin flash. But, why not all types operated in that same period of time (70s)? The Angolans had a lot of support from Cuba, mainly operating the above mentioned types. Could that be a reason, that the “Cuban-operated” aircraft wore the fin flash?
But then there’s the PC-7 fleet also with the fin flash and a little younger than the above. Once more, the type was also operated by “foreigners”… Could there be a link of some kind? Would definitely be interesting to know for sure!
I think the next picture is a new one here on the forum
Angola MiG-17. A drawing is here below
Are there any other pictures known with this roundel or the one on the PC-7? Would be great to see more of this.
That picture was published in the book “FAPLA”, as well as many other known pictures we’ve seen popping on the internet time to time:

The next pic is a Cuban MiG-21 in a movie about the Angola war. The finflash look like the one on the PC-7 but upside down.
I’m sure i’ve seen that image without watermark and it seems that is photoshoped, specially in the area around the drop tank (hidden by the watermark in this picture).
the PC-7 was posted a few years ago in a small air force Topic.
it is Angola but I don’t recognize the flag/finflash. Who has more Information? (period used, organization etc.)
I found that fin flash on the following types:
PC-7

There should be a list of requests in this thread 😀 It’d be useful to give an idea of what images to search for
PS: And a list of what has already been posted could be nice too!
I’m struggling to understand the point of this weird exercise.
Just to make people subscribe to his website i guess. Sad…
Several small AF’s aircraft that I have photos of. Note Bopthutaswana and Venda Defence Forces are no longer extent and have been amalgamated into the SAAF
Rhodesian Air Force (Rhodaf) photos I have. This is now the Air Force of Zimbabwe (AFZ)

or know what the aircraft number on the fin is?
It was an Angolan crew delivering the first An-26 to Cape Verde, so most probably it’s FA-C01.
