Thank you both very much for that information. My elevator control link would appear to be .5″ too low. Fortunately, i have not fixed it in place so no problem to move it.

Is it frame 20 (after portion) 30027 sht.102G or 2063G OR 30027 SHT.22G or is it non of these?

Hi Thank you guys for your comments. Much appreciated. The gun button is the only original item on it. The yolk bolt was made from a original drawing so was very useful as a datum point. I have a small collection of G45 cameras. I can connect the column to a air supply and operate the camera via the gun button or the camera button. I also made the 5D534 gun button holder that is operated by the pneumatics. Just need the 8 Brownings now!!

I have made the column from top to bottom myself, apart from the spade grip. i bought a repro, one of the many that are sold as spitfire grips and “converted” it myself to spitfire type. As a matter of interest, what is the length of your column tube?
I can pm you some photo`s if you want to see it?

Thanks very much for the link. Although i am more in my comfort zone with turning/milling, it is something for me to consider having a go at.

Again, thanks for the info. I have seen drawings from this source for the control column and i have a doubt about the length of the tube/ guard shewn in the drawings. They have a length of 508mm where information i have from museums/restorers is that it should be about 540mm give or take a couple of mm. I hope to be in possession soon of a “new made one” so i have everything crossed that it will fit.

Thank you Tony. Your time is very much appreciated.
I would like sht. 5 because it should be the version of control drum used on earlier Mk`s.
I have some drawings of the type used in the Mkv.
Sht. 4 is to confirm that the column i have built is good, or not!. Well i think it`s pretty good…If all goes well then the cockpit is next!!

    Thanks vacb.
It would be unlikely for them to go back. It would be like them saying “well, we got that improvement wrong”.

Mmmm.. What we need is someone with a Mk1 column and someone with a Mkv column to go and measure them for us!.. Now, who do we know who has got these????

    Knifeedgeturn.
Your point about the chain guard is the reason i would like to know because, at some great expense, i am going to have one made!!

    vacb.

Does the fact that your PR19 manual shows a 300 prefix mean it would not have changed fom the Mk1 right through to the Mk19? If it had changed for the mk19 would it not have been 389 or 390 prefix?

Yes makes me think that perhaps they did vary between types! I also wonder if they could have just made a mistake? After all, on the drawing they shopw it as drawing No. 30033 – 21 Surely this No. is for the R/H chain guard?..

Yes.. I had seen this. It was this that made me ask if anyone knew what it should be as previous measurements i had put it nearer to 540 give or take a mm

Hi. If it is of any use to you i have a tail wheel that i was told was of a spitfire but i have no idea if it is. It has a size of 31/2 inches and no. AHO 5023/2. Maybe someone on the forum could confirm if it is or not.
