Presentation is all, and for all the alleged ‘improvements’ (undetectable by me) the this forum remains unappealing and uninteresting. For heavens sake, has none of the team responsible looked at other forums, as has been suggested many times, to see what makes them attractive and viable. I’m left with the feeling ‘they’ have given up in the hope the few remaining users go away.
The forum returned to operation overnight – a slight technical hitch.
Sorry Bruce, it needs to be in the text section (tool bar) not on an attachment, most posts don’t have attachments. For example my recent 0916 post simply shows text, no way of editing it to add ‘red’ to the sentence.
No arrows, black , green or any other colour on my screen.
1. Why keep signing in? Just bookmark the website (https://www.key.aero/forum/historic-aviation).
2. How does one know posts have disappeared, they aren’t numbered.
Although never posting I’ve followed you religiously, Blu-2, and have been awed by your accomplishments. Best wishes for your new home, I’m sure many (all) will follow you.
It is sad that Key failed to realise that the number of views a thread receives are as important, if not more so, than the number of posts since they indicate the popularity of a thread and, indirectly, the website.
Re your 13 Nov 1344 post, Christer, my apologies. Bad choice of word on my part (archived). I was thinking of the number of times I ran searches on the old forum and stupidly equated that to an archive search. In some ways it was as the forum had such a long history, but as recent events have sadly shown all the data has been lost by someone’s ill-considered decision.
To summarise BobKat’s comprehensive post – “Return to the old format please” (me being polite).
Yes, Christer, because all the invaluable (previously easily accessed) archived information extending over many years would be lost for ever.
24 hours after my last post on the subject the new Duxford Diary has received another 1000 views (now 1450) – that’s over 20 views per hour.
In the 2 hours since my last post at 0902 hours another 121 viewers have visited the site – that makes it 446.
It is perhaps worth noting, Key, that in the 24 hours the Duxford Diary has been established in its new home it has garnered 325 views (as at 0859 hours today). That’s 325 views you’ve lost.
Unfortunately your new format does not display the number of views for any thread, and they are probably of equal, possibly greater, importance important than the number of posts.
Doesn’t work for me I’m afraid Mothminor
Why do we need yet another thread on the same subject??
Not sure if anyone has already mentioned this, but the new format does not include the cumulative number of views (as opposed to replies) a thread receives.
For example, back in March 2006 I started a thread on the 7 December 1977 Akrotiri U2 accident. https://www.key.aero/forum/historic-aviation/56680-akrotiri-u2-accident…
I eventually found the answer I was seeking, but curiosity occasionally leads me back to the thread to see if the number of views increases over time – it is simply an indication of ongoing interest in a historical subject.; this applies to any thread. Unfortunately this new version has dropped the facility.
