Theological discussions are not within the charter of the fiorum.:p
IIRC till Sept, 2002 at the No.20 induction ceremony there were no photo of the RVV in the IAF inventory. This followed by RVV on the Mig-29 in AI’03 and the Bisons.
Rumor has it that there ARE pics of airborn MKI with varying load outs but for some stupid reason they are not approved for public consumption.
There are no pics of the ‘2nd batch’ of MKI either…but there is a sqd for them: No.30. I am still contending on BR that they dont exist. 🙂
Strange are the ways of the IAF.
hey funny eh?
stupid to hand out pics and then say – oooooo dont show them….
Phrozen, the PAF leadership squandered many chances. Hasnt that hurt the PAF’s defence preparedness today?
Also the F16 is proven the JF17 is not. Propoganda and marketting claims apart, it will be a long time before the JF17 equals the F16 (ugly lawndart that it is)’s record.
If we go by a paper ORBAT, then the Turks appear to have an upper hand.
Pakistan never rejected them due to lack of quality, we wanted western systems on them and thats what we are going to get. Would like to see your cource for their so called “lack of quality” but I suspect like far too many posters on this forum, you dont qactually have any and are just giving your wishful thinking…..
Wasnt there a problem with weld quality? The PN insisted on some Quality improvements iirc…
Becuase our main rivals air force is mainly made up of un upgraded MIG-21s and MIG-23s, which F-16As will handle with ease…..
The IAF is planning to keep the MiG23’s around only as trainers.
Unupgraded F16A’s wont cut it against 2 Sq of Mirage 2000’s, 3 of Mig29’s and 2 of Sukhois at present. Besides, the Bisons have better avionics than the F16A’s the PAF currently operates besides proven Active BVR ability, and offboresight HMCS cued WVR R73E’s.
This keeping the future flow of the ten Mirages and the Su30 production etc out of the picture.
I agree. The Pinkov stuff does not help them, especially when he tries to pass them off as his photos. They are better off reading from the forums than paying him to do the reading and writing for them.
All i am saying is that i treat Janes as just source of information that should not be completely ignored and thrown out of the windows. The lack of coverage on PRC and other Eastern defence arrangements/deals/projects is a inherent weakness of Western based defence publications. You get the same spotty coverage from Naval Forces. Local based mags like Asia Defence Journal are better in the sense that they have a regional focus on some nation but in some areas, are no better. The only good ones would be mainland publications and dedicated TW mags like DTM but it would require these western publishers to have a section just to do the translation.
Asian Defence Journal has one of the biggest plagiarist ba$tards around- pardon my french but I hadta say it.
Prasun Sengupta. He picks up stuff from Indian defence websites routinely and passes it off as his own without even changing a comma!
If you look at the pre-1999 (Internet) days, the Janes articles on the PLA were few and far between, and usually lacking in details and pictures. Now when you look at their reports, they’re usually written post facto, after the photographic evidence has been visited on various websites. And, more often than not, their China section is written by Pinkov, at least for JDW.
I’ve also lost respect for Jane’s on account of a strong suspicion of mine that one of their authors plagiarized my research paper.
Bingo! Welcome to the gang. As regards plagiarism y’can be sure that Janes editors pick up whatever they want with nary a thought to where the info comes from. A cpl of chaps I know of have had their entire articles lifted by Janes and other folks who contribute to Janes…
Of course Yahoo is correct! How could he be ever wrong! Everyone- do seventy five single finger pushups as punishment.
Of course he was the first to disclose it. After all we should forget that its been TWO YEARS now that every forum on the net has been yakking about the ADS 37 and HIMADS and this and that……
Sheeeeessssshh!
And all that “proof”- some scanned brochure and tall claims from “Usman” or someone else…as usual.
I didnot gave it name it is official name but i disclosed it. 😉 . Regarding its quality it is much better system than pure russian stuff. Range is estimated at 150KM.
ROTFLMAO. Whatta farce. So if Pakistan buys it, that automatically makes it better than all the Buks, S300’s, S400’s – the entire Russian range of SAM’s Medium, Long Range etc eh?
Delusional!
This quite illogical reply. Show me any nation which is making or claiming to make advance engines for fighter aircraft cannot make for basic jet trainer. Intact the time line is pretty the same. BJT is coming in an around 2007.
Given the nature of your posts- the fact that you’r using the word “logic” itself is pretty illogical.
So what exactly cant you understand? That the Kaveri is under development is known. That HAL is going to deep manufacture the AL55’s is also known. So why would they invest in a Kaveri derivative to power the AJT spending more time and money, when the AL55 would be available and would aid logistics commonaility to boot.
Try thinking rationally for a change without your blind hatred of India colouring your perceptions.
The Kaveri’s fate is still up in the air. It may or may not succeed. I don’t know what kind of assistence the Russians are providing but unless they are directly involved in development, given India’s lack of experience, it’s logical to assume it will fail. Producing a jet engine is the hardest technological obstacle.
Given your logic, everything one attempts without doing it before…will fail. Sheeesh.
You have to read my statement more than twice to understand it. IF Kaveri is successful project than whats the need of ordering BJT engine in 2006 from Russia after all if some body can do 3th generation engines. Trainer engine should not be a problem. Developing something for ever does not mean that it is successful.
read the cruise missile report. There is mention of development of longrange high altitude SAM and that is called ADS-37. They didnot mention the name.
Your intelligence really knows no bounds. First the Kaveri is still being developed- its LCA flight qualification is scheduled for 2007 time frame. Secondly, the AL55 has already been chosen for the IJT and there will be significant logistics commonality when it comes to the same powerplant being used for the AJT. And third, HAL has a deal to manufacture the entire engine, all subsystems included – so why wouldnt they leverage on that.
As regards developing something for ever- LOL- it would be better to paint shoddy gear green and call it “successful” and “indigenous” huh?

Best of luck- dont give up!
PAF Fan u were right. Leave the guy alone. He still hasnt been able to digest the news about his country’s nuclear dysfunctionality. Just like the caption of the rediff interview “We are great at fooling ourselves” .
It will take time for him to act normal.thank you.
Umm…could we tone down the nationalistic BS please. Your fervour amuses me but it seriously is a waste of b/w. “Your country”, “my country” and all that jazz..
As regards normality- the way you keep muttering “Dysfunctional” seems to have Freudian overtones. Something you want to share with the rest of us? 😮
