The Yak really looks cool. But is it fully developed yet?

Interestingly in the IAF eval, both the MB/Yak were rejected, only the L159 made it against the Hawk..

Must have been wary of forking out more $$ to complete the devpt..

Look before you guys buy the report- doesnt it appear a bit bizarre?

    Seawolf missiles?

Buying so many ships with no reports of designs etc only based on some stuff about a new alloy?

Claims of Thales being preferred when every IN guy lauds the local sonars- even the new Krivaks have BEL ones. The IN is committed to local sonars designed for its needs…they’re better than what we get from abroad so the IN sticks by them.

    The entire article seems fishy…

Many countries appear to use the above tactic- the RSAF and the PAF come to mind as two AF’s which are heavily advertised as being regular practitioners of the above. Or at the very least, have factored that in their plans…

Also, how many hours did BuAF pilots pull each year? They certainly seem to have been well trained and put through their paces.

Superb post Airsande- ties in well with what I have heard as well!

    Thanks.

The acceleration bit brings back fond memories- one claim I have heard is that its next to impossible to catch a Flogger “on the deck”. In the hands of a skilled and calm pilot the MiG23BN can outrun almost any adversary.

    Airsande,

How did pilots rate the Flogger? Was it nice to fly or regarded as tricky?

Have heard the 23’s are trickier (BNs) than the 27’s..and the lack of proper HOTAS and limited visibility calls for great skill when conducting low attacks as is the norm.

The problem with all these studies- done by Teal and F&S, is that they are far too generic. The market is neither clearly defined in the above nor are cases analysed with depth. Both India and China are out of any future sales- each would prefer kits homegrown product to ramp up its respective AJT fleet.

To keep this thread alive- doesnt it seem that with PESA’s the Russians have basically achieved most of what can be done with AESA’s at far lesser cost?
They may not offer graceful degradation but they can interleave modes as AESA’s do and offer multitarget ability.

With s/w upgrade LPI features are also possible…

So any AF with PESA’s- like the RMAF / IAF could keep updating their PESA’s and pretty much match what comes out at far more cost in a JSF’s nose…

And conserve their funds to goldplate only a certain number of a/c.

I am afraid you have done precious little:

    1. You have provided no data to support the assertion that Sea Eagles have poor ECM and can be relatively jammed.

    2. It has already been remarked that the IN has no need to buy new Sea Eagles with the Brahmos A and the Su30 MKI combination earmarked for the Naval strike role as well.

    3. Furthermore, the Sea Eagles in the IN inventory are quite serviceable.

    X X X X MODERATED – NO REGURGITATING X X X X

    All the best!

Batch was released under Brown ammendment in 1998, here is the link

    http://www.fas.org/news/pakistan/1995/951206-416984.htm

By the way, I cannot find a single peice of information that India has anything other then 10 year old Sea Eagles and there have been no new recent orders

    1. Indian missile stocks are kept current through periodic refurbishment.
Ask Harry for details if you wish.

    2. India’s future is the Brahmos and specialist versions of Russian ASM’s like the KH 59M and the KH 31 A. These are directly tied to the Su30 MKI which is assuming the Naval strike role as well. Note this article from Nov 2003 itself.

    http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/326851.cms

    3. Indian Naval Aviations LRMP’s also have the option of integrating the Klub.
But most credible Indian sources (Vayu Aerospace Review) note that the Brahmos A has pipped the Klub and will be the de facto standard.

Has the deal been signed yet?

The FMS is but a proposal.

A lot of FMS stuff to India is yet to see the light of the day.
    Hardly certain.

Pak may hold out again for something else….

A few of the Pakistani posters on this board and elsewhere would do well to just bide their time- if the Erieye is being purchased, then they could celebrate later. With due cause, I might say.

But all this constant wailing out of spite (Oooh Russians are helping the Indians who cant make any thing, lets just believe that and everything will be well ) and intermixed celebration (we got the Gripen already, we got the Mirage 2000 V already… ) is just silly and distracting.

Give it a break already. We had claims of F7 having superior BVR and ECM – no proof provided.

    Life…

So if there is official article in AFM mag then it is not the truth? O.. I forgot. Yo Indians ask tpae recordings of the interviev and since I was not there it is not evidence… Sure.

What official article? What nonsense. Either posit your position or avoid the thread and spare us the amusement at your shenanigans.

About not having r&d… How can one design engine and not having R&D?

The test facilities in question- note for your troubled grasp of the English language- “test facilities”- include a flying testbed. Which India can avoid spending on.
That is quite different from a generalized gibberish on R&D.

Just honestly tell that the Russian do it for you. Just like Brahmos which is Yakhunt.

The Indian contribution to the Brahmos project- includes a Navattack system based on an Onboard computer, INS, Fire control electronics, elements of the propulsion system, software for the entire integrated system, parts of the land based launcher and guidance system.

Like I said- kindly do not extrapolate the Pak China relationship elsewhere.

Typical to call others trolls. Reported.

Your babbling speaks for itself. So does your rather childish rage at anyone rebutting your claims.

Shall we have a contesgt about conductive postings? Why not adding Wolverine or Indian 1973? 😉

Frankly, both of them rate far higher than you. They know about aviation and dont babble about all sorts of weird stuff, in broken syntax and tortured grammar like you are wont to, all over the place. Open a thread about the IDFAF and one sees you blathering about some political stuff about the Palestinians etc..
    Grow up.
