K8 is 50-50 share of profit.
JF17 is 58-42 share profit.
And indeed the one that paid for devlopment owns rights, unless it is written in contract. Why would JF17-01 (test plane) wear one side PAF markings?

Abhimanyu in his post called it Eurocopter Tiger, I just partly copied him, by just calling it Eurocopter. When we have more data on helicopter then I we can make a solid conclusion.
@Quad bank
If you are saying Pakistan just paid to develop fighter. We can safely say they have IP rights. This is not the Mig 15, 19 and 21 transfer deals with China, where totally paid and built by Russia. Atleast Kramer replied to my points, maybe you thought the need to divert attention from reported weakenesses of helicopter.
If current ACM of PAF repeats that it is the only airforce that designed and produced an airplane then why are we repeating the discussion?
Drones may ship to Pakistan ‘within a year’: Pentagon
(AFP) – 22 hours ago
WASHINGTON — The Pentagon hopes “within a year” to deliver around a dozen unarmed drone aircraft to Pakistan to aid its fight against Islamic extremism, a US senior military official said Monday.
“I would like to think that we would get them there within a year, but quantity and so forth, I think, will depend on what are the right ones, and how many make sense for the fight that they’re in,” said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The official told reporters that while the United States is looking at sending about a dozen aircraft to Islamabad, the actual number of drone aircraft “could be more or less, depending on the need.”
“What we are trying to do is get with them to be able to articulate the requirements of what they need,” the official said.
Efforts are underway by US officials to “match the right equipment to the requirements. That’s what we are trying to work them through.”
Pakistan previously has also urged Washington to outfit its military with armed aerial vehicles like the Predator and Reaper.
US drone missile strikes against Al-Qaeda and Taliban figures in Pakistan have fueled anti-American sentiment because of civilian casualties, and drawn public condemnation from the government in Islamabad.
The United States has carried out nearly 100 attacks with unmanned drones in Pakistan since August 2008, killing more than 830 people. Figures range widely on how many civilians have been killed.
The unnamed official said Washington could supply around a dozen smaller, unarmed Shadow drones to Islamabad, to help with their surveillance and reconnaissance activities.
“We looked at Shadows, we looked at ScanEagles,” among other drones, the official said. “Shadow drones may in fact be the right platform at the end of the day.”
Shadow drones — smaller than the armed Predator and Reaper aircraft — are about 11 feet (three meters) long and have a wing-span of 14-feet (4.3 meters) with sensors and cameras feeding video images back to operators on the ground.
Pakistan’s military already has some drones of its own production which it uses for surveillance, but which are less sophisticated than those manufactured by the United States.
Last week, Pakistan’s foreign minister said the United States would improve its public standing if it let Islamabad spearhead armed drone attacks.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, in Washington for high-level talks, acknowledged in a CNN interview that drone attacks by US forces against Islamic extremists on Pakistani soil have “taken out some valuable targets.”
But he said: “The issue of sovereignty is there. People of Pakistan feel strongly about it.
“We want the ownership. We make the decision when to operate,” he said. I “It will help improve the feelings in Pakistan,” he said.
I think it is a waste of funds to deliver non armed drones. If a rec drone sees something they still need to get plane with weapons in the air. Either the enemy is gone or alarmed by the sound of the fighter/bomber. The advantage of a drone is see and kil silently. It won’t be a huge problem for Indian side if you look at the aircover the Indian airforce has. In that area the non armed drone are better suited. Small, long endurance and getting target data for everything that can kill.
The mass distribution aspect is obvious, the winglet-like effect also. But regarding why -120 instead of -9 I’ve heared stories about serious drag and vibration issues with Sidewinders on the wing tip stations of the F-16, which do not occur with AMRAAM.
That is new to me but could be. I would expect winglets to reduce drag cause it means lower wingvortices but sofar I have read different reports about it. But if one flies furter with AIM9 I would expect that it is not only a weight issue but also the winglets. I remember a pilot telling me that the F16 flies further with AIM9 then without it (no other stations used). I do remember that another pilot told me the efficiency of putting AIM9 on the inner and AMRAAM on the outer station even thought one would expect the opposite. It had to do with attack optimalisation and not efficiency of flight. But vibration issues could be also very true. But why did we have no issues with that cause the F16 has been flying for some decades with AIM9 on the outer stations doing high G’s. All I know is that they get crazy replacing those joints between the wing and the pylons (cracks) but never problems with cracks on the outer stations.
The largeg lass area must be great for visibility, but remember that alot of the enemy will be using 12.7mm AA guns on their tanks and troops will be using 7.62mm.
I think the whole idea of it is to stay out of the range of these weapons. You have long range sensors and a long range canon to hit first. Only when you missed SA then you might become hunted.
The F-16 usually flies better with an AMRAAM than a Sidewinder.
And the F-15E come from faaaar away, transiting up and down the Persian Gulf along Iranian airspace. Better be careful …
The rest is doctrine.
I have to disagree with you on this one mr Distiller. The F16 flies better with AIM cause it is more fuel efficient (AIM9 wings are kind of winglets) and the AIM9 is lighter. The only reason to have the AIM9 on wingtip and often AIM in the inner position is that if you have a dogfight you release your AMRAAMS first and then move into close combat to use your AIM9. The advantage is that your rol rate is better cause you used your outer stations first…
Its not a temporary solution. its the solution that they required for a chopper that requires a crashworthy landing gear. there was no other way to ensure that the bottom of the fuselage doesn’t touch the ground and to maintain adequate clearance for the same but at the same time allow for very hard landings without bottoming out the oleo.
Wait, I just checked Blackhawk… That one is indeed different. What I more mean is that for a light or medium size attack helicopter it does look strange to me personal. The whole design is kind of stealth yet the tail wheel is a bit bumpy. And the headlight under/behind the gun is a strange location to me.
If you are fair to yourself you would know who started that rant.
Please evidence… Not another empty remark.
What exactly does Pakistan have IP rights for in the JF 17 ?
C’mon guy’s.This is a topic about India. Why keep mixing the topics? We all know what it will bring.
Anyway. All attack choppers seems to look the same but this one has definately huge cockpit and superb views for pilot. Good choice. Only that gear keeps looking a bit large. Probably a temp solution. The tail looks like Druv.
Another View 😉
I think you can clearly see the cockpit layout and number of MFDs in this.
Look at the tail landing gear… Talking about huge.
hey guys there was a story on one of indias biggest news channels that india had threatened to pull out from its order of 126 f-16 if they sold pakistan block 52s!!!!!??????is it just or me or did the super viper win the mrca by any chance without the whole world knowing ???
Strange. A nation that has 5 times bigger army, more nukes, bigger and better airforce, bigger navy starts threatening to pull out for just 14 f16’s which we do not know which and what is included in the deal? It is goign to get 250+ mki, big number of latest Mig29, 125 MRCA, part of PAKFA and at the same time busy with LCA, MCA or probably some other things. Somehow the Indian press is going ballistic just like the totally empty story from the opposite site about what is bought. Funny world.
Turkey is a modern secular state with a majority Islamic population. Totally different from an Islamic republic. Turkey historically have had good ties with Israel and Jews in general and not that good relations with the Arab countries.
Neither is Pakistan an arab nation. Even Iran got F14 parts through Israel and Afghanistan Mujhadeen were armed through Israel.
Funny, now suddenly Turkey is not muslim. Tell that to Germany and France that do anything to keep a muslim nation out of the EC. If one has written here that Turkey is non mulsim then I think we can seriously have thoughts about the knowhow of that person. Being secular is nice but that does not mean that it is not muslim. And besides that just look at how the army is becoming less important and muslims are gaining power. Which is not negative cause the western nations do have huge Christian parties. Even India has it BJP. So democracy does not force secularity.
Even if Israel is willing to sell Pakistan will probably not buy as it may alienate her from her Arab friends. Even Malaysia chose to not have Israeli parts in their MKMs. 😉
Tell that to Turkey that just got their Heron UAV’s.
I think the US had the same idea of using small tactival nukes. All I can say is that I hope they understand that it would be as stupid as someone else use them on their country. How stupid can mankind get?
