I traced my Gt,Gt,Gt Grandfather army records down last year and he left in 1843. The only way of doing it was to physically go to Kew Gardens in London and trawl your way through the records. It’s laborious but there is no electronic way of doing this.

Alternativly there are people who will do this for you, but it will cost I’m afraid.

I see what you mean, not a lot of spare room under the beast at all.

They must have used explosive bolts? If so did it lift it far enough off the wing to prevent damage?

Were they fitted for any particular task that the aircraft had to do? It just seems an odd place to stick tanks if your going to mix it with some bad guys.

I could just be being stupid and thinking of dog fighting when this didn’t happen with these big, fast beauties?

Bugger, I’m on the Atkins diet, they don’t do bread-less sausage sarnies perchance?

Thanks for that chaps, I’ll be taking my son with me but my brother is also coming with a party and that will be taking the mickey somewhat.

Odd that we need a sticker when Flypast just says to turn up with your membership card, I’ll check with them.

    Thanks again.

Just checked out the website for Fort Paul and they do have a charming collection of wax dummies there and they do do falconary demonstrations so it should be in safe hands?

A friend of mine – ex Life Guards – used to be assistant curator at the Museum of Transport reckons the old girl was in a fairly good state of repair when he left but that was 10 years ago. A lot of water under the bridge – and seals – since then I know but can this new mob look after her?
