It appears from the timetables that the additional Belfast rotation will be operated by a BFS based aircraft. With all these new flights has anyone heard any rumours of fleet expansion or is it likely to be an increase in summer leases from other carriers?
According to FlyBE it is only 6 of their aircraft that require checks (aircraft with over 10,000 hours). Only the 400 series are involved.
Aha, the website is a bit misleading then as is states that flights are operated by Jet2.
I doubt they will start operating across the pond Tommy as theres too much competition in that market. Fares are already very cheap. I would say that some of the Greek Islands and Cyprus may be a better option.
Following these mergers
The My Travel Airways name will disappear and the fleet will be absorbed into the Thomas Cook fleet.
The First Choice Airways name will disappear and the fleet will be absorbed into the Tuifly fleet.
Monarch Airlines are part of the Cosmos Travel group. Cosmos aren’t merging with anyone at the moment and so the Monarch name will remain.
Excel Airways are owned by the Avion Group and it’s highly unlikely that they will merge with anyone.
That will really only leave Flyjet, Astraeus and European as independent charter companies in the UK.
It will be interesting to see what happens with Flyjet in the future. Silverjet are wanting to start up new routes from other European Airports to the US and following the new EU open skies policy they may opt to concentrate on that side of the market instead and rebrand their aircraft.
European? Who knows.
Good luck Astraeus!
British Airways operate 2 daily services to Sydney, not three. The timings are as follows.
Outbound
LHR1SYD 2135 0610 (+2) BA9 744
LHR1SYD 2145 0650 (+2) BA15 777
Inbound
SYD1LHR 1730 0550 (+1) BA10 744
SYD1LHR 1635 0535 (+1) BA16 777
Atlantic Airlines have axed their service from Stansted recently and so BMI have a bit less competition.
I’ve heard that it’s not so much the competion from Jet2. The client base is completely different. It’s over the Pennines that’s the problem. BA and AF are in direct competition at MAN and this is driving down the revenue at LBA too. Who wants to pay £300.00 for a ticket from LBA when you can pick one up at a fraction of the cost from MAN. CPH is a different story. There’s no competition as only SK operate from Manchester and they will be code sharing the the LBA service too.
I told you so

I told you this last week but you didn’t beleive me!

Hi
This can’t be right. The Paris route is one off the better performing routes from LBA for bmi regional. Theses Flights are always over 35/40 passengers on them. Even though it’s up against a 1 daily mid day Jet2 B737-300 service.
If any route was under performing from LBA for bmi regional I would say it’s the Glasgow route. Passenger figures a dropping like fly’s just at the moment for some reason. They are having to stick the smaller ERJ135 on sometimes, as they can’t even fill the larger ERJ145 that is scheduled to operate the route.
If you’d asked this question a couple off months ago though. I would have said the Brussels run would have been axed. But this route seems to have picked up just off late. It’s scheduled to be operated by the ERJ135 but now they are having to put the larger ER145 on it.
What do the rest off the LBA regulars think???

LHR, LGW and NYC will be it for BA mainline. All the rest of the routes will be transferred to FlyBE.
GB Airways will operate to Heraklion, Malta, Paphos, Dubrovnik and Tenerife South in Summer with an Airbus A320
(most Tenerife services will operate MAN-TFS-EMA-TFS-MAN)
Not all good news for LBA!
I’ve heard from a reliable source at BMI that the LBA-CDG services will be withdrawn in the very near future as this route is under performing.
