    I have forget to say, A-50 which disguised the exhaust’s radar
    signature. One switch on and the SR-71 expire like a
    Bird of Preye from your VHF radar.
    A-50 suppresses the vapor trail.
    A-50 suppresses the emergence of soot.
    Without soot no condensation, therefore no liquid water.
    No liquid water –> no ice, therfor no exhaust radar signatur.
    Ice has a RCS about of 2%.

    Wheater radar, use Goggle and search Geisterwolken or Phantomwolken!
    Wheater radars are not really usefull against stealht.

    Side 6!
    Chaff or boron gas!?

    No. That is from manual.

    You can read the orginal Manual?
    The vortex generators on the duct surface is placed behind the W/M nozzels.

    Did you know that Farnborough radars tracked the SR-71 from several
    hundred of kilometers.
    The SR-71 is not a stealth aircraft. It is made of highly visible
    titanium with corrugated lower wing surfaces, which enlarge its
    radar cross section area even more.

    Farnborough radars are VHF radars and not I-Band!
    The exaust plume reflect VHF, this can A-50 disguised.
    Or mean you secondary radar?
    Countermeasure against sekundaer radar, switch of your transponder!
    For I-band is the SR-71 invesible, and what for smersh-a invesible
    can your R-40 not shutdown.
    The same is valid for the saphire.

    There were a number of features in the SR-71 that were designed to
    reduce its radar signature. The first studies in radar stealth seemed to
    indicate that a shape with flattened, tapering sides would reflect most
    radar away from the place where the radar beams originated. To this end
    the radar engineers suggested adding chines to the design and canting
    the vertical control surfaces inward. The plane also used special radar
    absorbing materials which were incoporated into sawtooth shaped sections
    of the skin of the aircraft, as well as fuel additives to reduce the
    exhaust plumes VHF visibility on radar. The vertical control
    surfaces,intake, the chimes was made of RAM.

    It is true for ordinary missiles, but remember that R-40 is especially
    built for Blackbird type targets. That missile is so fast that it had
    to be made of titanium and steel instead of aluminium.

    You know that the R40 is radarguided.
    The radar receiver sits behind a plastic cap.
    Therefore need the R-40 titan?
    The exaust plume are very hot, therefor ionisation.

    Of course, but it has a transonic compressor and impulse type turbine,
    which is much better choice for combat aircraft.
    Note that mixed compression type engine of SR-71 has unacceptable vices
    for a combat aircraft, like unstarts, limit to pathetic 8 degrees angle
    of attack and extreme sensitivity to throtle changes. Among other
    things.

    The vortex generators are placed on the duct surface behind the W/M
    nozzels and prevent seperation.
    The R15 has no transonic compressor.
    The compressor is still subsonic.
    Or see you curved fan blades? :rolleyes:

    I think you dont’t know the Busemann’s rules. 😮

    All turbine compressor are subsonic.
    All turbines are a impulstyp or use you a warp engine?
    The MiG-25 could go Mach 3, but there was no way to stop other then cutting the engines. The turbines would go in overdrive, completly wrecking your engines and they could not be throttled back, that would stall your engines, not a pleasant thing to do at such speeds.
    Continue to dream firebar! 😀

    The disguising effect is additional at VHF- frequencies not only ineffectively, but almost additional unsuitable by resonance (Mie- scattering!).
    A bistatic radar consists of a separately located (by a considerable distance) transmitting and receiving site. Therefore, a monostatic Doppler radar can be upgraded easily with a bistatic receiver system or (by use of the same frequency) two monostatic radars are working like a bistatic radar. A bistatic radar makes use of the forward scattering of the transmitted energy.
    Militarily this system is also of some importance. The so called „semi-active” missile control system as used in the missile unit „HAWK” is practically a bistatic radar.

    Nothing is invisibly below 2GHz!
    P-145N84A , R12 and R18 can track a SR-71, F117 etc. easy.
    That are VHF Radars with large Antennas!
    The disguising effect is additional at VHF- frequencies not only ineffectively, but almost additional unsuitable by resonance (Mie-scattering!).
    The afterburner is in cold state a reflector, we should not ignor ionisation!
    The SR-71 with a much smaller RCS than expected for a plane of its size, it was still easily detected, because the exhaust stream would return its own radar signature.
    Therfor hit the R-40 the exhaust stream and not the SR-71. 😀
    The Smersh-A and Sapfir-25 are K(U)-Band Radars.

    @firebar
    What better materials?
    I have change many of this piece of ****!
    No material change between B and BD only better clerance.
    It’s a heavy piece of steel whitout titan.
    Upwards Mach 1,5 need the R15-300 WATER/METHANOL!
    Why should we not use the waste WATER/METHANOL from the open cooling for the smersh-a or safir-25?
    A vortex generator is only usefull to energize the boderlayer on the wing to avoid seperation.
    In a duct acts your Vortex Generator like a Brake and don’t energize your airstream before compressor!
    It’s sucks always power or you have invent the Perpetummobile!

    How should the R-40 track a SR-71 with a RCS= 0,012m2 with “re-entrant triangles”?
    With the Smersh-A or the less powerfull safir-25? A R12 or R18 VHF Radar is a little bit to large for a MiG-25!
    You should first calculat the search range and than the track range.
    No chance frontal and no chance from behind with 40% reduced track range.
    The guidance system cannot adjust to the high closure rate of the SR-71.

    The MiG-25 can carrying two missiles, 24000 meters (for maximum 2min); carrying four missiles 21000 meters is maximum.
    The overd 90000feet is balistic and a MiG-25 RU or PU whitout R40, without radar (-293kg ), without cameras etc..!
    A complet striped MiG-25.

    A R40 weight 468-475 kg! Four R40 weight 1872kg or 1900kg that limit you to 2,2g (load 4180kg).

    The R15 is a turbojet and no turbo bypass jet like the J-58.
    Therfor all the air must pass through the R-15.
    The R-15 runs at 2,83 Mach at 120% of your rated RPM.
    The fuelpump and the generator’s works at 120% rpm .
    Your drag increased with the exponent 2 and your power comsumption therfor increased with the exponent 3.
    That is valid for all MiG-25P PD RD and for all other plans etc.
    A another limit is the MiG-25 radom and it’s 300°C limit and your boiling kerosin and the turbine lubricant temperatur increased dangerously at/over 2,83 Mach.
    You should not merge P and R specs together, the R Radom is much smaller as the P or PD Radom! A MiG-25 R(D) is faster than a MiG-25 P(D).
    The Cw x A value is for a P(D) more worse than a R(D).
    Valid Source for the Mach 3+ Myth?
    No soviet propaganda, no textbook and desinfomations sources please!
    Continue to dream!

    Sure the R15 need no water/methanol;)
    http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/de/thumb/d/d3/MiG-25_Air_inlet.jpg/200px-MiG-25_Air_inlet.jpg
    The water methanol injection nozzles build in for a joke in the duct! 😀
    What is max power?
    The R15-300 runs 120% overspeed Rpm for Mach 2,83!
    Max power 100% is only Mach 2,53!
    The only difference between R15B-300 and R15BD-300 is the TBO (150h–>1000h) 😀
    And the worldrekord E-266M is more a MiG-31 and powerd with Turbofan Solowjow D-30F and not with R15s;)

    Sure, all soviet sources are true! :rolleyes:

    Facts
    http://www.dfrc.nasa.gov/History/Publications/PDF/YF-12.pdf
    http://records.fai.org/general_aviation/aircraft.asp?id=779

    Compare A-12 and SR-71
    Single seat, rather than 2 seater SR-71
    Shorter range than SR-71 (2,500 v 3,250)
    Max altitude higher (95,000 vs 85,000 feet)
    Faster than SR-71 (Mach 3.35 as opposed to Mach 3.2)

    From 1972 -1989:

    * 3,551 Mission Sorties Flown
    * 17,300 Total Sorties Flown
    * 11,008 Mission Flight Hours
    * 53,490 Total Flight Hours
    * 2,752 hours Mach 3 Time (Missions)
    * 11,675 hours Mach 3 Time (Total)

    http://www.spyflight.co.uk/foxbats.htm
    In the first time MiG-25 Mach 2,83 archivabel only for 3 minutes and later for 8 minutes.
    Than is your water/vodka tank dry!
    The MiG-25 need many water and alkohol for turbine cooling and trust.

    Shutdown MiG-25

    * 13 Feb 1981 Syrien Foxbat-B Libanon shutdown by israel F-15A Eagle.
    * 29 Jul 1981 Syrien Foxbat-B shutdown by israel F-15A Eagle.
    * 1 Jun 1982 – Syrien Foxbat-B shutdown by israel F-15 Eagle.
    * 31 Aug 83 – Syrian Foxbat-B shutdown by israel F-15C.
    * Golf War I two MiG-25 shutdown and many destroyed.
    * 25 Dec 1992 one MiG-25 shutdown by F-16.
    * Rest in peace! 2003 Iraqi MiG-25R Foxbat B, the fastest combat aircraft today, buried beneath the sands in Iraq!
