I asked a chap from OFMC about TE184 last September. He said it hadn’t flown because of a lack of money. The exhaust stubs have started to rust through and have some small holes, so I don’t think it’s engine has run for a long time.
That’s handy! Thanks!
I agree that it doesn’t seem to be smart to stop the only public transport to the museum on a Sunday. It costs me a lot of money to visit Duxford: flights, trains and hotels etc, so I was always glad to be able to save a few pounds by using the courtesy bus. On the bright side though, for me at least, is that i usually attend on airshow days and there will still be a free bus put on for those.
Thanks for that!
Mine arrived yestersday as well, along with A Spitfires Story. I’ve only watched the Messerschmitt one so far and it is excellent. Am looking forward to the Spitfire one which I will watch tomorrow as it’s my day off work. Keep up the good word Sconnor!
I saw that dvd but wasn’t sure if it was the same documentary. Would prefer to have it on its own, rather than an extra on a dvd I don’t really want, but if this is it then I’ll get it then. Thanks!
Here’s Sptifire XVI TE184
Thanks for that. I was wondering if the JPEG compression had been reduced slightly in the later models. It doesn’t seem to be on the S5500, But does anyone know if it has been addressed in the S5600?
Hmmm… I wonder if that was my fault??? At FL I offered a £5 donation to sit in the Spit (which was accepted) and as I left I noticed a queue had built up behind me :diablo:
Well I for one am glad you started it. I’m sure it made a lot of people happy getting the chance to sit in a Spit!
No I didn’t know and I wish I hadn’t found out.Damn,Blast,B***@*!
It didn’t seem to be being promoted at all. I was walking through hangar 3 and saw someone showing a few people around the Spitfire, and a little further on there was a small queue. I tacked on to the end of it and waited my turn. Best surprise all day!
Not much new I can add to this thread. I attended both days luckily enough and the sight of all those Spitfires and Hurricanes in the air on the Saturday was amazing. I haven’t seen anyone else mention yet, but the OFMC were offering people the chance to sit in Spitfire TE184 for a donation of £5! I jumped at the chance and after waiting for nearly an hour my turn came and I found myself climbing into the cockpit! I was told not to touch any thing, though I was able to use the control column. It was a dream come true and definitley made up for the lack of flying on Sunday.
Thanks.
I just assumed from what I read in the Sally B newsletter that she would be practising over London. Ah well, I’ll see her on Saturday anyway!
By the way, what is NOTAMS?
What time is the flypast due to take place?
Basically for two reasons. I would like a really accurate one with all the details of the original, and secondly the lining in mine is getting holes where it is attatched to the waist band. It is 9 years old.
