Tallichet’s B-17 before its recent refinish was splendidly ratty

Does it still have it’s ‘Belle’ markings or has it a new scheme?

Old Crow is the SHF machine, it and the A26 were last heard of in Europe awaiting an engine or two.

    Thanks

[QUOTE=Archer]The A-26 was probably the one from the Scandinavian Historic Flight. The DBAF never owned an A-26 or P-51 although they ‘borrowed’ a Mustang from Sweden a few times during those years. In 1993 or 1994 it flew for a short while in Dutch East Indies colours, I’ve posted photos of her like that in another thread a long time ago. It may also have been ‘Damn Yankee’ which is based at Lelystad.

Thanks for that. The P-51 was marked as ‘Old Crow’. Would this have been from the SHF as well? Where is the A-26 now?

I think the first warbirds I saw were those owned by the Duke of Brabant Air Force in 1994, which at that time were the B-25, A-26 and P-51. (I think the A-26 belonged to them)

Great news. I remember seeing that documentary, but don’t think it has been repeated again.

Google has produced the following result:

    http://www.pacificwrecks.com/aircraft/b-17/41-2446.html

I personally think it should be recovered and preserved instead of letting it rot away in the middle of nowhere.

This is my earliest one. Taken at City of Derry airport in 1995. 😮

And here’s the B17 and B24 at Fantasy of Flight taken the same year. I really should get back there.

Here’s a few of Tom Reilly’s facility taken in 1996. I’m sure there would be different projects there now.

Best movie from the last 10 years: must be Amélie Poulin. I don’t know what it is but I bought the DVD and I can see the movie over and over again. The actress, though she’s not “hot”, she has an extra thing I can’t really describe. I think it’s a combination of Paris, the French language, her sweet smile and the story-line.

Absolutely agree. Amelie is one of my favourite films EVER! It’s just great. When I was in Paris earlier in the year I went around the village where it was set, Monmartre, and saw the cafe she works in, Monsieur Collignons shop and a few other places. Have photos if anyones interested.

Best film this year (so far) – Spiderman 2.
    Worst film – Van Helsing.

Sally B has something like that under the fuselage. Probably some modern navigation or radio equipment?

. But the Battle of Britain hall needs a complete redesign. Maybe removing all the sets at the beginning and putting a short video presentation on. This would allow unrestricted access to the aircraft, which is what the RAF Museum is about.
    mmitch.

I agree with that. I’d only been in there for about 10-15 mins and was looking at the Me109, when I was told to make way for the film display. Surely this could be done in a seperate area (something like a briefing room), instead of moving people out of the area for 15mins every hour! Oh, and flick on a few light switches 😉 .

Just guessing they could be on holiday. Another reason might be that because they have opened new areas of the museum they haven’t got extra staff to watch those areas yet. All just guesses. I’m sure someone knows the real reson. I’ll be back there in September for some serious photography! 😀

These areas were all closed when I went on 8 July. Maybe alot of staff are off on holiday?
