Leader is the project name for the new destroyer. Will be laid down sometime this decade. There is a lack of clarity if the ship will be destroyer, or small cruiser sized (and potentially nuclear powered). Supposedly they are leaning towards the larger design.
22350/22350M in any case will be a more than adequate replacement for 1155s and 956s.
thanks !
excellent news. I was always a fan of the larger surface warship classes of FSU, with their brutishly beautiful lines.
any idea who will be making it ?
sorry to barge in. has there been any news for a new destroyer class ?
or does the RuN intend to continue with the udaloys & the sov’s into the 2020’s.
actually he asked for concrete info on numbers. because ya’ll contested the only article that provided the numbers (1+1)
but when asked for proof, folks go into obfuscate ! obfuscate ! obfuscate ! mode.
hello guys, pakistan is no longer part of India, didn’t you get the memo ?
no need to discuss India in this thread.
it’s not like that they needed a ‘lesson’. it’s just that mumbai harbour is very crowded & they dont have an option until karwar comes online.
There used to be an army forum here years ago but it got scrapped, I don’t think the mods would allow it.
call it the army aviation thread. 😉
looks quite dodgy. no wonder you didnt post the link even after it was pointed out to you.
is it too much to expect a link for the news posted ?
very nice vid Twinblade. 🙂
The F-4 was designed with a main role in life… fleet interceptor.
It was later adapted for other roles.
The F-35 is designed with… who knows what as its main role. Striking? Fighting? Fleet defense? Intelligence gathering? Money laundering?
:highly_amused: 😀
in the related field of space tech, ISRO’s MangalYaan or Mars Orbiter Mission has successfully completed its trajectory transfer and is now en route to mars. it will reach mars around the same time as NASA’s MAVEN, in about 9 months time.

wow somebody needs glasses !
on topic, cool camo ! but then russian camos always were. from the lemon yellow disruptive camo flankers in 90’s to the digi-camo fulcrums, they know to pick pretty dresses for their ladies.
where’s that stealth fighter they have been showing from the time I was a kid (well, almost) ?
most 4gen fighter with decent TWR (F-14 certainly was one) can supercruise in case a) it is flying clean and b) it has a light onboard fuel load.
such supercruising is not a tactically useful capability.
IIRC a lot of those were recce versions which were good enough for the role. the russian philosophy is don’t change it if it ain’t broke.
