    the MKI comparison in that article is pure hyperbole, MKI IS IAF’s premier fighter bar none. mirage2000 was all that, true, but that was in the past. right now it is one of the many upgraded legacy multirole a/c.

    merlin, israeli kit isn’t quite 2nd class, the reason Indian opted for french is because OEM support was needed for some aspects, mica integration for example. which would have been refused otherwise.

    I don’t think sign meant it with some specific problem in mind, just that Sri Lanka and B’desh are other neighbours of India. it’s like RAF saying it’s all good we can watch over the north sea but what if we wanted to see what the french are cooking today ? 😀

    in Indian navy women (officers only) serve on surface ships and new ships have separate accommodation for them in which 2-3 female officer would share a room.

    no women on subs and that’s unlikely to change, given that IN ships tend to be overmanned to cater for continued functionality in case of battle casualties.

    Can we please stop with the Mathias Rust references? I have acquaintances who were PVO, they all confirm they tracked him and had planes ready to intercept/nearby the entire flight. Decision not to shoot down was political.

    If the scenario is a Baltic one, then large, or any, gaps will be hard to find, assuming Russia brings even moderate resources to the theater. Of course, then there are defending fighters to think about. All in all, not a pretty task for anyone, let alone Sweden.

    but won’t normal practice would have been to send an interceptor and force him to land, in stead of letting him do as he pleased ?
