    Hi All
A most successful day at the museum yesterday with Trident PO being moved within the museum. This is a much better place for her and will allow us to bring the Cosford steps over. I have offered to lead a group to restore this back to one of its former livery,s BMA. I have also been given the chance by the museum if I can get a team together and if we can raise 3-4k to do it …… outside only…. I have Matt Falcus with me who runs our Trident website who will run the viscount website.

    Thanks Tony and Tim,
Its a joy to know people are enjoying seeing it come together.
Thanks also for the flight imfo tim . We as yet have not be contacted by any of the three pilots that were on that flight. Hoping to get to 150 pilot logs by the end of the year we are on 126 with an average of 1 a week coming in.
More will be added to the site in the next couple of weeks so keep an eye out .. Spread the word
    cheers tony

    Update of progress

    Hi All,
Its been a while and i appologise for not updating this forum sooner but i hope most of you have been going to the save the trident website.
A lot has happened over the last year with the aircraft painted in the front p/x cabin toilet and galley and what a transformation. We have also had the vinyl flooring put in as well as carpet through the front cabin. We have started on the electrics with wiring all in for all the sockets we wanted as well as fuse box and wiring to front toilet light. Right now they are putting in the wiring through the cabins for the lighting .The rear is all stripped out and work has started in there too.
This year we have many areas we want to do , ie finishing the front cabin, cockpit, getting the airstairs here as well as new engine nacelles. W3e are also going to work heavily on the outside and would love to at least get the fuse painted.. weather permitting..
We are also looking for more volunteers to help, preferbly with engineering or fabrication skills, although , ethusiastic people also wanted.
We have made a target of 3k as a realistic figure to raise this year so if anyone wants to donate they can at the website http://www.savethetrident.org
    Kindest regards tony

    LATEST /UPDATES

    Hi All ,
Well it has been two months since the Trident arrived at the museum and i can say that if you have not seen our website lately i can tell you that restoration/preservation is well under way with the cockpit and front passenger cabin.. The cockpit is being painted and exclusively being undertaken by Neil Lomax and is coming along quite nicely. The front p/x cabin is totally stripped out bar the overhead shelving and is being prepped for painting.Outside the areas where we cut for dismantling have been primed to protect for the winter as well as the port leg has been further strengthend by Flavell welding. We have also have had a whole trident main gear leg and tyres donated by North Brook college at shoreham airport which is now at the museum of which we will be changing the tyres over. Julian has also sourced some front tyres for us of which we hope to start doing over the coming weeks. We have also recruited 3 more members to the team who are local to museum and have vast experience in restoring aircraft. We have also learnt from the museum comittee that the museum are looking to give us a permanant location in the museum for rebuilding the trident very soon .
For us to move forward we need to raise the money to do the next stage . We need to buy the paint for inside, carpet for the forward cabin , material for seat covers . Outside we need to look at having the money to put a solid tyre compound in the tyres, have the cleats made up for joining the wings and tail back. Anyone who can make a donation towards this stage it will be very much appreciated by us all as we can only move forward when we have the monies donated in place. Our website is http://www.savethetrident.org where you can donate or find details for other payment methods. We would love to have this aircraft back together and in a condition for people to view it next year .
    thankyou regards tony

    All now moved into NEAM

    Hi All,
We can now announce after 2 days of lifting and transporting that all of the trident aircraft is now at the north east aircraft museum.
We would like to thank all of our sponsers and everybody who donated to getting the Trident to NEAM.
The whole operation of moving and transporting went very smoothly and i hope to get some pictures up shortly

We now move onto the next stage which will be restoration and preservation with the main gear and nose wheel being on the agenda first.

We would also like to recruit some new members who can help with the restoration , who have an eye for detail and are team players.
Of course Moving forward with the restoration is very much dependant on donations, the more we can raise the more we can do in a shorter period so if you can help we would be very grateful, Any fund raisers are most welcome too.
Once again i would like to thank everybody who has contributed as we would never have got this far.
    regards tony jarrett

Another factor that was in play was the many rows of steel screws that cutting through would of thrown up sparks which we wanted to avoid as we are cutting wings which still had very strong fumes inside as well as some residue fuel.
As you may remember when we were originally cutting the wings we had to stop as there was too much fuel still in them. Safety was the priority.

    wings and tail

We have made arrangements for the tail and wings to be transported to the museum on 18th and 19th of august. This will then complete the move from Teeside to the museum and the process of restoration will begin.:)

    thankyou

Thankyou all for your kind comments.
The wings were going to be cut inboard of the landing gear legs as we were first told we would not get it to Neam any wider , but then we had Colin Best come on board who re-looked at the route that was proposed to us originally and found he could take her a longer way round meaning we could leave the gear on. We decided to cut straight across but found that after cutting the port wing we could not snap the spars as a mount for the gear leg went wider than anticipated which would of left us with the gear possibly dropping out on transportation that is why we ended up with the triangular extra width that meant we had to get a speacial order from whitehall to move it, fortunatly we managed to avoid moving street furniture…

    trident in museum

    Hi All
Its finally arrived… After so much work and planning the Trident has arrived at the North East aircraft museum.
On Saturday the Trident was lifted 3 times as we had to lift over 2 fences to get out of the airport. This went really well and didnt take as long as we expected. After being parked up at dtva overnight the Trident was moved out under police escort at 5.30 sunday morning . It didnt take long before she arrived at the North East aircraft museum where it was lifted temporary into the car park .
We would like to say a massive thankyou to MSD cranes, JDPL ,Sveargods,Serco,DTVA, Durham and Cleveland police forces and the NEAM,for making this such a successful weekend. We would like to say a huge thankyou to all our other sponsers and the public with their donations and sponserships making this project possible.
With the remaining parts following over the coming weeks , we shall then make a start in preserving and restoring her. As soon as we get a permanant position for the trident we will re-attatch tail and wings etc and get it painted.
Obviously we can only proceed each stage after we have raised the money to move forward so any future donations will be accepted very gratefully.
    .
    Thankyou to you all

Thanks for the positive comments. We will do our damnest to make sure we can cover the cuts. We will have to carefully weld in place and look to fill with as much metal as we can and apply a thin filler to blend in before its painted. But rest assured we shall have the experts giving sound advice to get the best results before we tackle it.We may find that a couple of small bits we may need to re-skin from rivets to rivets at the worst scenario but it all can be put back right
thanks again these positive comments make all the hard work and organising really worthwhile.
What we need is the word to go round what is happening here and convince people to raise the monies for us to continue with getting it to NEAM and restoring as we get no help from any goverment body with funding
    cheers tony
