I am sure in the last week or so, I have seen somebody mention on here, a meeting that took place at Duxford covering this sort of thing. Could the outcome of that meeting be the reason the CWH Lancaster visit has now been announced.

Nice to see there has been no Nimrod Victor interface in the recent weather.

I call my self a fan but have never been to a race. The last few years I have wanted to go to Spa, my favourite race track, but every year funds have had to be allocated to less interesting things. I`l get there one day before it is replaced by another `track` on a carpark in the desert ! There are few airfields and museums to visit while I am there too 🙂

    When T20 becomes T5 I might give it a go 🙂

Of course driver skill plays a part as we have discussed before but it is what it is, people driving cars. Although the drivers are some of the most physically fit of all sports people, the sport is not comparable to a purely physical sport such as athletics. I guess thats why they call it motorsport 🙂 One thing I would say though is the machine the driver uses is the result of the skills and endeavours of the humans that design, build and maintain it.

I will never, nor want to convince you to watch F1, in much the same way you will never do the same to me about cricket 😀

I like that idea a lot. The good thing about it is, there are so few people effected it will have no negative effect on the vote and may encourage a `yes` from those that are being held to ransome by the land owners.

The technology is the sport, the drivers are just the last in the line of the team.
I dont think you can go wrong with your local Stock car / Banger Racing track for real racing. I need to make the effort to start doing that again this year.

Sky is a money making corporation so they’d do anything to get more viewers, which they kinda need anyway because they’re not getting the number of viewers they’re targeting for.

Good ! I hope Sky loses a ton of money and drops the F1 channel, then the BBC can pick up all of the races at a reasonable price again.
I guess we can forgive Martin Brundell and let him come back too 🙂

    http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/425925/Scots-demand-vote-on-keeping-the-Queen

Some 63 per cent of voters called for a ballot on Scotland’s next head of state in the event of separation, with only 22 per cent saying the royals should be retained without question.

    I am all for this 🙂 –

Senior SNP backbencher Christine Grahame has suggested the party has always had a secret plan to hold referendum on the monarchy should the country opt for independence.

She also recently quipped that the Queen should be replaced by Aberdonian singer Annie Lennox, saying she was a “great humanitarian” and a “sensible person” with a “great voice”.

I have to be honest and say I did not know Salmond wants to keep the Queen as Head of State. That makes absolutely no sense at all ! He is not my leader, even if I was Scottish I would still think he was an idiot.

Please do stop spoiling my ideology and the SNP dreams with your reality :p

I will now re-enter the discussion with spell check back in action. Thank you for filling in Moggy 🙂
I see the inevitable **** storm erupted from a simple discussion about currency.
What is all the arguing about ?
Scottish independence is the right thing to do but the wrong decision.
Salmond is the right man to gain independence but the wrong person to run the country.
Impounding Trident – I guess they could just sail away, lobbing one over their shoulder as they go.
A moat at Scotch Corner – That might give them a little more land than they are actually entitled too.

My opinion for what its worth. An independent Scotland is everything I have ever wanted (the inevitable financial crash aside) for my own country. Just imagine, no royal family, no conservative government, no southern bias on spending ….. and all the Haggis, Lorne sausage and tatty scones I could eat 🙂

My last post should of started with `In my opinion` Charlie 🙂

On your points EE, I agree, there is a lot less lapping now due to the field being closed up in terms of lap time. We do not see cars not making the grid because they did not qualify with in the percentage rule any more.
Recent comments from the drivers after testing, are that the cars are much slower in the corners due to decreased down force (rule changes). This should mean increased over taking or at least increased driver input over technology. I am all for a competitive and entertaining formula but as a fan of the technology as well as the driving, I would still like to see a pure formula where a car can do 500 MPH through the Monaco tunnel …. upside down on the roof ! As opposed to a cheapened, artificial formula.

I dont think it does Charlie. I used Button as an example because of their similar driving styles and approach to racing. They are both smooth, consistent drivers, who will get the maximum performance from a car by using engine and tyre management, working with the team on development and set up etc. Hamilton, Raikkonen and Alonso I do not doubt could have won the championship with last years Red Bull car but I do not think they would have won as many races because they are `racers` and prone to crashes, racing incidents, penalties and inconsistent qualifying.
