But these days the cars will make or break a team. A mediocre driver in the best car will do well and the best driver in the world in a poor car will not. So much rests on getting the technology exactly right.

Sebastian Vettel, Red Bull – 13 wins
Mark Webber, red Bull – 0 wins

Fernando Alonso, Ferrari – Drivers Championship – 2nd
Felipe Massa, Ferrari – Drivers Championship – 8th

As for a prediction, it is not possible at this stage …. but at a guess, Raikkonen shows that he is slightly the better driver than Alonso. Alonso throws a big strop, Ferrari favour Alonso with new parts etc. Raikkonen tells Ferrari to stick their job up there a…

I think the idea is, that they are reliable because with out power to the Hydraulics to hold them down, the springs pop them up so they can do their job of starting the Artouse.

Trumper, the people you describe are the reason I have two shelters and bivvy bags in my backpack when I am out. I do not want to give mine up 😮 I am pretty much prepared for anything when I am out to the point of my backpack weighing about as much as I do. As for home work, I have my maps ready for Scafell Pike 😮
Lincoln, I have done a lot of things that would be classed as extreme sports (I do not count hill walking in that) and they are covered by the insurance of the organisers. They also have trained first aiders but I would still expect the help of emergency services and hospital treatment should I need it. I agree I should pay for the use of those emergency services through taxes but I do not agree I should pay an additional amount, when somebody who breaks their leg in a Sunday league football match does not. Like I said where is the line for the `stupidity tax` ? … and my car is 100% legit at all times.

First of all, great pics :eagerness:

Crossing barriers, signs etc, put there for peoples safety aside for a second and going back to Lincolns mention of insurance for certain activities. I pay extortionate council tax like everybody else, which encompasses emergency services (a large percentage) surely this is `insurance` of a kind ? Should I have to pay for `walking up a hill insurance` too ? Where is the line between an accident and somebody injuring them selves avoidably ? People get run over because they walk out in front of cars. That is avoidable, should we have `crossing the road insurance` ? Putting your socks on stood up insurance ?
I see members of this forum who constantly blame H&S and the Nanny State for people not being able or wanting to do anything. People who have said in my day, when I was young, we did this that and the other, now saying, do not do anything even remotely risky or dangerous, you are irresponsible and should be left for dead.

Mind you that erk never seemed to be making much progress with the job.

    Moggy

The tyre finally let go at 50 times its intended size and blew it into outer space 😮

I agree with those who think it is a shame it is too late for the interesting airframes lost.
Maybe the new direction could include letting go of the disillusion that Duxford still looks like a 40`s fighter base and building some new decent size hangars.

The money certainly is not endless, that is why it is the plan for the year. I will get the parts together slowly and then get the work done for me. I dont want to be messing around with the cam. I am member of quite a few owners cubs/groups, where for some reason people break perfectly good cars all the time, so picking up the parts at a reasonable price is not a problem. It is the fitting and the mapping which has to be done for the cam, that is really going to sting.
I have drilled and grooved disks with Green Stuff pads at the moment which are more than enough but could go for a 306 GTI-6 break set up in the future. The suspension is lowered 50mm so it handles well with out being stupid sump busting low. The front could do with some uprated dampers but is ok for now.
I actually have a de-cat down pipe in the shed but the noise is not for me. The 4 2 1 will have lambada sensors.
Any way I have other forums for being a`boy racer` so back to topic 😮

Fifteen year old Saxo, anyone? Although I am not sure that Mrs C wants to be remapped!!:D

12 year old Saxo Charlie 😮
Since I bought it I have taken the useless Piper Cross cone filter off, all it does is suck in warm air from the engine bay, reduce performance and make a racket. Replaced that with a standard air box with K & N filter (cant beat them Lincoln). A little gain there. Then swapped the daft big bore exhaust for a standard box. A little more gain there. Its just had a service (and some suspension mods) at the `Blue2 Garage`, so I reckon it is now some where near back to the 98bhp it should have.
So now with a good base to work from I should be able to make good performance gains this year. Tyres first though. The plan is 4 2 1 manifold, centre section will have silencer (I dont like noisy cars) so some potential gain lost there. Saxsport/Pugsport backbox with 2 inch tale pipe. All stainless. Then a fast road cam, either Catcam or Newman depending on budget.
Waffled on there but this is the point 😮 A generic map on a small petrol engine will not do a great deal. On mine there would be some gain because it is mapped to hold it back a bit from the VTS model but no where near the silly claims I have seen. Actual mods are required. It will be going on for 150 bhp with the mods and a custom map. Which is not to shabby for a little 1.6 8v engine.
    Do it Charlie 😮
